When we started PadUnite, everyone said build a booking app.

"That's what the market needs. Court bookings. Simple."

But after talking to dozens of players, club owners, and corporate HR teams — the booking problem was already solved. What wasn't solved was everything that comes after.

How do you find regular playing partners? How does a club turn casual bookers into a community? How does a company turn one event into an ongoing programme?

Those are the questions we're building for.

Play. Connect. Grow. It's not just a tagline. It's the sequence. First you play. Then you connect with people. Then the community grows.

Still a lot to build. But the direction's clear.

Partnering with clubs across Cyprus to run corporate events. Here's how it actually works behind the scenes.

Club provides courts and venue. We bring the format, organisation, and corporate clients.

For the club — they fill off-peak hours with guaranteed bookings and get introduced to a corporate audience that might stick around as regulars.

For the company — professionally organised event without figuring out rules, equipment, scheduling, or anything else.

For us — we build the connective tissue between both sides.

Simple model. Only works if everyone benefits. That's been the design principle from day one.

If you run a padel club in Cyprus and want to host corporate events without the admin headache, let's chat.

Keep hearing the same thing from office managers in Cyprus: "We used to do team dinners, but attendance keeps dropping."

It's not that people don't want to hang out with colleagues. It's that sitting at a table for 3 hours after a full workday isn't everyone's idea of fun.

The companies getting the best turnout right now? They're offering something active, short, and optional-feeling — not obligatory.

A 2-hour padel session on a Wednesday afternoon hits completely different than a Friday night dinner. People show up because they want to, not because they feel they have to.

Small shift. Big difference in energy.

What's getting the best turnout at your company?

Since we started running corporate padel events, I've been tracking what actually happens:

87% of participants interacted with a colleague they'd never spoken to before.

Every single event has resulted in the company asking about a second booking.

Average event duration: 2.5 hours. Average time before the first laugh: about 4 minutes.

Padel isn't magic. The format is.

Americano-style tournaments rotate partners every round. You can't hide in the back. You can't only talk to your department. The game does the team-building for you.

Running events across Cyprus right now — Larnaca, Nicosia, Limassol. If your company's looking for something different for Q2, happy to share what we've learned.

Lots of padel apps help you book a court these days.

Finding a court isn't the hard part anymore. Finding the right people to play with — that's the gap.

I talk to club owners every week. Their courts are packed during peak hours, empty off-peak. Hundreds of individual players book, play, leave. No connection, no retention, no community.

Same on the corporate side. Company runs one event, it goes great, but there's no easy way to keep the momentum. No league, no group, no follow-up.

That's why we're building PadUnite around community and events — not bookings. Tournaments, leagues, group matching, club communities. The things that turn one-time players into regulars and one-off events into programmes.

Still early. But the pattern is clear: the future of padel isn't booking courts. It's connecting people.

Quick comparison nobody asked for:

Golf — 4 hours, expensive, intimidating if you've never played, basically only works for people who already golf.

Football — someone always gets hurt, half the team stands on the sideline, the competitive ones take over.

Padel — 20-minute matches, you pick it up in 5 minutes, enclosed court means rallies last longer, and the 4-player format keeps everyone constantly involved.

There's a reason it's the fastest-growing sport in Europe. 25+ million players. In Cyprus alone, new courts are opening every quarter.

For corporate events the math is simple: you need something where everyone can join regardless of fitness, that creates actual interaction, and that people want to do again.

Padel checks all three.

If you're planning Q2/Q3 team activities, worth a look.

Ran our first corporate padel event in Larnaca last month. 24 people, most had never played before.

Here's what surprised me.

First 10 minutes were genuinely awkward. People didn't know the rules, didn't know where to stand, kept apologising for bad shots.

By minute 30, the CFO was high-fiving the junior developer. Marketing was trash-talking sales. Someone had already asked "when's the next one?"

What made it work wasn't the sport itself. It was the structure. Americano format — you rotate partners every round. Nobody gets stuck in a corner. Everyone plays everyone.

We handled courts, equipment, format, scoring — the company's event organiser literally just showed up with people.

Building PadUnite to make this repeatable. Not a one-off.

Curious about something.

When you plan team activities for your company, what's the actual goal?

A) Build connections between people who don't normally work together
B) Reward the team after a tough quarter
C) Improve energy and wellbeing
D) All of the above — but honestly you'd settle for people just showing up and not checking their phones

No wrong answer here. Trying to understand what actually matters most so we can design better corporate events.
