Dr. Dre, the iconic rap legend, is setting his sights on the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, not as a spectator, but as a competitor in archery. At 59, Dre (Andre Romell Young) revealed his Olympic ambitions in an interview with *Entertainment Tonight*, stating that he's "deadass serious" about competing.
Dre's interest in archery dates back to junior high, though it took a backseat until his son reignited the passion by gifting him an archery setup. Now, with a backyard practice range set at 90 feet — longer than the Olympic qualifying distance of 77 feet — Dre is ready to take his skills to the next level. He plans to hire a coach to prepare for the Olympic Trials and has already received an offer from two-time Olympic gold medalist Justin Huish, who has pledged to connect Dre with the best in the sport.
If Dre follows through, he’ll be competing in front of his hometown crowd in L.A., adding another fascinating chapter to his storied career. Even Snoop Dogg, Dre’s longtime friend, is supporting the effort, playfully nicknaming him "Braveheart." With determination and a potential Olympic-level coach by his side, Dre’s archery dreams could become a reality.
