It’s the beautiful peeling bark of Arbutus andrachne, locally known as Antrouklia 🌳

Its smooth reddish bark naturally peels away, revealing the striking fresh surface underneath — making it one of those trees that’s just as beautiful up close as it is from afar.

Millions of years ago, the rocks that make up the Troodos Mountains formed deep beneath an ancient ocean. Today, they offer one of the best-preserved examples of oceanic crust anywhere on Earth, attracting geologists and researchers from around the globe.
