Red Frog 🐸
A small, brightly colored frog that lives in the humid forests of Costa Rica and Panama. It measures between 1.5 and 2.5 cm and feeds on small insects. Its bright red coloration warns predators that it carries toxins in its skin. It is a diurnal species and one of the most striking and well known frogs in Costa Rica. ✨🌿

Pequeña rana de colores brillantes que habita los bosques húmedos de Costa Rica y Panamá. Mide entre 1.5 y 2.5 cm y se alimenta de pequeños insectos. Su color rojo intenso sirve para advertir a los depredadores que posee toxinas en la piel. Es una especie diurna y una de las ranas más llamativas y conocidas de Costa Rica. ✨🌿

The Toxic Tortoloquillo Caterpillar is a very striking caterpillar because of its hairy appearance and bright colors, features that often serve as a warning to potential predators. Many caterpillars of this type have tiny stinging hairs or spines that can cause skin irritation if touched.
It mainly feeds on the leaves of tropical plants and trees, and during this caterpillar stage it spends most of its time eating in order to later transform into a moth. In the humid forests of tropical regions, it is common to find similar species hidden among branches and leaves.

Leccinum monticola is an edible mushroom with a pleasant flavor that grows in oak forests in the highlands of Costa Rica. It is characterized by its large, convex cap with a brownish-orange color, as well as a thick, rough stem covered with small scales. Unlike many other mushrooms, it has pores underneath the cap instead of gills.
This mushroom forms symbiotic associations with the roots of oak trees, helping maintain the balance of the forest ecosystem. It also changes color when handled, developing grayish-pink or bluish-green tones.
