Last night, Costa Rica experienced significant rainfall due to a tropical wave and the Intertropical Convergence Zone. Heavy rains and thunderstorms were particularly noted in the Central and South Pacific, Central Valley, North Pacific, and mountainous regions of the Northern Zone. Rainfall accumulations ranged from 40 to 70 mm, with some areas receiving up to 100 mm or more.

Heavy showers continued into the night in the Central and South Pacific regions, with accumulated rainfall between 10 and 40 mm, reaching up to 50 mm in some places. This is the catalyst for grooming the sand bars at the river mouths like BUTTER.
