📢 FISU World Forum 2026 is coming!

The next edition will take place in Östersund, Sweden, from 24 to 28 August 2026!

Organized by the Swedish University Sports Federation in collaboration with the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the forum will bring together students, university sports officials, and industry professionals from around the world to discuss and promote the development of university sports and dual careers.

🌍 Östersund offers a unique combination of sports culture, education, and stunning nature – the perfect setting for this global event!

🎉 The 2024 FISU World Forum in Zagreb has officially come to a close! 🎓🌍

After several days filled with inspiring lectures, workshops, and invaluable networking moments, we bid farewell during a memorable closing ceremony.

💬 The ceremony was graced by speeches from our esteemed guests including Verena Burk, FISU Vice-President and Marko Žunić, FISU Executive member & President of the Organizing Committee, which expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for making this event a resounding success.

🇸🇪 We are excited to announce the next host – Östersund, Sweden! Anette Lohnn, Secretary General of the Swedish University Sports Federation, received the FISU flag and eagerly announced that Sweden will host the FISU Forum in 2026.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for making Zagreb the heart of the global student sports community. We hope you enjoyed your stay, made new friendships, and created memories that will last a lifetime.🌟

📸 The final day of 2024 FISU World Forum was truly inspiring, as it was dedicated to the bright minds and innovative ideas of students from around the world. 🌍

What a wonderful ideas we’ve heard! 12 international teams came together to present their creative solutions and projects, all tied to the important issues we’ve been discussing throughout the week. Each idea was a testament to the passion and dedication these young visionaries have for making a difference. 🌟

And the winner?

🏆 The incredible FISU Lounge project! This concept envisions a vibrant space where students, athletes, volunteers, and participants can come together to meet, share experiences, and exchange ideas.

We would love to see it come to life at future FISU competitions and forums!

Student workshops and projects ongoing ✍️👀

Today, attendees had an opportunity to participate in diverse workshops. From exploring the journey to Rhine-Ruhr, learning about the importance of collaboration, talking about gender equality - we all covered it.

In one of the workshops our NUSF partners from China, Thailand, and Lebanon presented their inspiring projects.

We can’t wait to see how you are going to implement what you learned and heard 💪

Day 2️⃣ of the FISU Forum kicks off with powerful discussions!

👉 We were diving deep into the intersection of sports and diplomacy with insights from Verity Postlethwaite and Gavin Price. Firstly we heard a critical reflection on the opportunities and challenges of operationalizing sport for diplomatic goals with insights from Verity and then Kevin told us top to bottom secrets for becoming a sports diplomat - all knowledge, skill and experience you should have.

After an inspiring opening ceremony and the first official sessions, we celebrated with a vibrant FISU Fair. 🎊

Participants proudly showcased their home countries and traditions, danced, laughed, and made unforgettable connections 💙

First guests of the FISU World Forum 2024 already inspired the participants. 🎙️

1️⃣ Nikolina Brnjac - Member of the European parliament and former Minister of Tourism and Sports
2️⃣ Martin Sinković - a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist in rowing
3️⃣ Besim Aliti - The Secretary General of the Kosovo Olympic Committee
4️⃣ Damjan Rudež - a former NBA player

👉 These names took the microphone to discuss sports diplomacy, global relations, impact of sport on a country's image, as well as the importance of encouraging athletes to become students.
