Meet the snapping shrimp.

That tiny claw isn’t pinching anything.

It snaps shut so quickly that it creates a bubble. When the bubble instantly collapses, it produces a powerful shock wave and the distinctive click you hear underwater.

The snap helps the shrimp defend itself, communicate, and even stun small prey.

One of the ocean’s most incredible superpowers belongs to an animal smaller than your thumb.

To be a great diver you need to master the fundamentals.

Here, our Open Water student is practicing how to deploy a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB), an important skill used to signal your position before surfacing.

At the same time, the instructor reinforces another essential ascent skill: always look in the direction you’re ascending. This helps you stay aware of your surroundings and avoid hazards above you.

Safe diving comes from practicing the small things until they become second nature. 🌊

Every healthy reef depends on tiny lives.

Hidden among the anemone lives a shrimp no bigger than a few centimeters.

Fish that could easily eat it instead pause to be cleaned. The shrimp gains a meal, while the fish leaves healthier than it arrived.

Over millions of years, evolution shaped a relationship where both species benefit. On a healthy reef, survival isn’t only about competition. It’s also about cooperation.

The closer you look, the more connected everything becomes.
