Some groups plan for weeks. Our group just shows up at the lake.

Last Saturday the group chat went: "lake day??" — and 45 minutes later, six of us were on the water.

Highlights from the day:
▶ The synchronized paddle attempt (lasted 4 seconds, laughed for 10 minutes)
▶ The first person overboard (we're not naming names, but they know)
▶ The snack picnic float in the middle of the lake
▶ The sunset paddle where everyone suddenly went quiet and just… enjoyed it

They say the first jump is the hardest. They're right.
The second one is the most fun.

Last weekend I jumped off my paddle board for the first time. Took me 10 minutes to build up the courage, and the splash lasted all of 3 seconds.

This weekend I went back. Same lake, same board, same me — different approach.

▶ Jump #1: still scary (but I did it twice)
▶ Jump #2: I added a little spin (terrible ex*****on, excellent attitude)
▶ By the end: my new record is 7 jumps in one session

Best date idea we've tried this summer? Paddle boarding. Hands down. 🌊

Neither of us had done it before. Day one was… chaotic (lots of laughing, a little falling). By week three we could paddle side by side without a single wipeout.

There's something about being on the water together — no phones, no noise, just the two of you, the paddle rhythm, and the sky doing its thing.

Best cure for a hot summer day? A paddle board and a running start. 💦

Yesterday I did something I'd been talking about all summer: jumped off my paddle board in the middle of the lake.

The first jump took 10 minutes of psyching up.
The second took 5.
By the third, I was adding spins. (Okay, one spin. It was terrible. Worth it.)
