Testing out theories and finding more than one way to do something is vital to growing. The more tools we have and options to choose from for coaching certain concepts is invaluable.

First round of golf in a long time! This was back on my trip out to Cali! Pasatiempo was amazing!

Lots to take in when out on the course of what is sticking and what still needs work! An incredibly important part of the process is seeing where things are at in performance environments!

One thing told me awhile back is that players have different swings in different environments and knowing what happens in each of those environments we should use to guide the direction we move things!

This is a great drill for most any level of player who struggles w/ getting pressure forward and sequencing it at the right time! On top of that, there are so many variations we can use of step drills that ultimately become the players motion and isn’t simply just a drill.

In coaching I believe our job is to find the least invasive change possible that has the largest influence on better the players contact and ball flight! Would be a big reason I am fan of training in this manner for both junior golfers and adults!

This drill right here is a great way to train how the lead side can move independently from the trail side. This is incredibly beneficial for the player who struggles with moving / turning everything at the same time getting to far in front of the ball (typical shot patterns could be pushed shots, steep divots, lower trajectories).

The trail side can work as a governor for how much lead side can move horizontally as well as rotationally (for the player who over rotates everything early in transition). Balancing out horizontal, rotational and vertical movements can be tricky which is why I like this drill to set parameters for horizontals and rotation.

This is great concept to practice for the player who struggles w/ a swing direction to far left (RH Player) and also has the low point height to far under the floor!

Use this a way to work on both issues and then I’d highly recommend adding a start line station to turn this into a functional shot!

Remember this, swing changes need to relate to how the golf ball is going to fly and how the contact / low point will become more predictable.

• How to transfer pressure from side to side, like long-drive champs
• The continuous movement drill: pick up the trail foot before swinging back, lead foot before swinging through
• The Four-Ball Drill: coordinate arm movement with foot pressure through a sequence
• Use pressure as your swing trigger—push back to start the backswing, push forward before the downswing
