Being part of the Henley Royal Regatta, whether as an athlete or a coach, is likely on everyone’s bucket list. Dating back to 1839, the regatta is famous for its unique knockout format—where only two crews go head-to-head at a time—its slightly longer course (2,112 meters), a strict dress code, and pure glamour. It brings together top university crews alongside the absolute best rowers in the world.

It is truly an experience that is hard to put into words unless you live it. What Wimbledon is to tennis and Monte Carlo is to Formula 1, Henley is to rowing. It was a wonderful experience, though with a slight bittersweet aftertaste, as we were knocked out in the second round by the eventual winners from Serbia.

Great changes take time to reveal the true picture, and the World Cup race in Plovdiv 🇧🇬 reminded us of that once again. The newly formed Austrian double scull of Julian Schöberl, who competed in the lightweight category until last season, and Lorenz Lindorfer, secured 12th place in Europe's oldest city. A result only ever reflects the current moment, not the incredible progress this crew has made in just 3 weeks of training together. The season is just beginning, and the road to our final goal stretches even further. We move forward with 100% conviction that we will find all the pieces of the puzzle and show our true potential. As a wise man once said: in rowing, there is no magic or miracles, especially not overnight.

A new chapter is about to begin - one that brings greater responsibility, bigger challenges, and an exciting new opportunity for the next three seasons.

With that, after two and a half incredible years, I will be stepping down from my position as State Coach of Upper Austrian Rowing Federation on June 1st.

Throughout this journey, I have always tried to be the best version of myself and to support clubs, coaches, and athletes with my knowledge, experience, and new ideas. Together, we have written a very successful chapter - one I will always look back on with pride and gratitude.

Over the past months, my name has come up in different places and new opportunities presented themselves. In the end, I chose loyalty - to the people who welcomed me from day one, believed in me, and supported me throughout this journey.

I’m proud to share that for the next three seasons, I will continue this journey as High Performance Coach in Linz / Ottensheim.
A new chapter begins - filled with hard work, responsibility, high expectations, and one ultimate goal: Los Angeles 2028 ⚡
