Our Kungfu Family school is beautifully located on the green northeastern outskirts of Chengdu on top of Mulan Mountain, Xindu District. It is just a 30 minute ride from the centre of town and not far from the top tourist site in town, the world-famous Panda Research Base - convenient to be in the midst of it all and yet away from the noise of the metropolis. The mountain with its stunning landscape covers an area of around 15km2 and features many rare plants. Kungfu Family shares this unique location with the historical Mulan Temple, an important center of Buddhist learning dating back more than 400 years to the Ming Dynasty, when local people built it in commemoration of a famed Sichuanese female general called Han E. She won the affection of the commoners with many deeds of valour. Our home, Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is famous all over China as the "Land of Abundance" (天府之都), not least due to its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and pleasant climate. The city hosts countless shopping malls, boutiques, restaurants, bars, cafes, street stalls – there is every opportunity to enjoy yourself when you are not training. From sparkling alpine lakes and soaring snow-capped mountains to deep bamboo forests and sprawling tea plantations as far as the eye can see – the landscapes around Chengdu promise to take your breath away. Sichuan is justifiably often regarded as the most scenic of all regions in China and many areas are just a few hours' drive from Chengdu.
