SPEED ZONES:
Sprint methodology breaks down speed into key phases based on distance and intensity. Thanks to the pioneering work of experts like the late Charlie Francis, we now understand how to tailor our training for optimal performance at each stage:
🏁 Start: 0-10m
🚀 Acceleration: 0-30m
⚡ Maximum Velocity: 50-80m (less than 8 sec)
🏃‍♂️ Speed Endurance: 80-150m (8-15 sec)
🔥 Special Endurance I: 150-300m (15-45 sec)
🔥 Special Endurance II: 300-600m (over 45 sec)
In sprint training, intensity = velocity, with max intensity achieved at peak velocity. Training effectively means understanding how to navigate these zones to enhance speed, endurance, and overall sprint performance!
