Julien set out from Tokyo with France on the horizon, a 12,000 km solo ride across Asia and into Europe. He is more than 9000km in, carrying everything he needs on a Serk A21 and collecting the sort of moments many cyclists dream of collecting themselves.
Back in February, Julien got in touch looking for one bike for a very particular job. He wanted to travel fast and light through Japan, Korea, China and Europe, but still have the confidence to take on the rough, remote roads waiting further west in Central Asia.
The A21 was the clear choice.
Its titanium frame gives him the blend needed for a journey like this. Light enough to keep moving quickly on long tarmac days. Comfortable enough for consecutive weeks in the saddle. Strong enough for loaded riding, rough roads, unexpected crashes, and the occasional ride in the back of a truck.
Julien’s setup is deliberately simple and proven:

• 34 mm tyres for fast, comfortable road riding
• Full bikepacking kit for life on the road
As the route became rougher through Central Asia, Julien moved to 42 mm tyres for more grip, control and comfort on broken roads.
So far, he has crossed Japan, Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. He even stopped by the Serk office in Beijing along the way. Now, he has reached Georgia.
From Japanese city streets to the high passes of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the conditions have changed constantly. Smooth tarmac one week. Rough dirt, big climbs and long empty distances the next.
That is exactly what the A21 is built for. Fast and efficient when the road is smooth. Capable and dependable when the route becomes more remote, rough and unpredictable.
