This is Buea 23/03/2026 basketball with WOMEN of 13 years old to 75 years old, at the Regional Multipurpose Youth Empowerment Centre Buea Town, coordinated and supervised by Madam Nadine Ngumbuwa the Vice President of Jeunesse Art Culture Sport et Mémoire - JACSM Académie has been very supportive with this project in Buea the South West Region.
As part of activities commemorating Women’s basketball and skill building in the South West Region, the program titled “Transformation within the Orange ball" by Jeunesse Art Culture Sport et Mémoire - JACSM Académie and the Volcanic Warriors Sports and Recreational Academy - Children's Programme was successfully organized to empower women through sports, vocational exposure and self employment. The initiative aimed to create a platform where women of different age groups could engage, learn, and explore opportunities for personal and professional development.
The women were engaged in various technical skills, fun and interactive games that promoted unity, relaxation, and social bonding amongst one another. After the fun activities a basketball match was organized as a central activity, where the elderly women played the younger ladies, and it ended in favor of the elderly women. This activity encouraged teamwork, physical fitness, and active participation among the women.
Practical workshops on shoe making, fashion designing, dress making, moto mechanics, etc. were exhibited with beneficiaries showing their know how.
This has gone a long way to Strengthened unity and interaction among women of different age groups.
Increased awareness of vocational opportunities such as shoe making.
Encouraged active participation in sports for health and well-being.
Boosted confidence and social engagement among participants.
The “Match for Employment” program was a successful and impactful event that effectively combined sports, recreation, and vocational learning to empower women. The active participation and enthusiasm displayed by the coaches, facilitators and the women highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting community development and women’s empowerment.
