It was great having the Canadian World Cup Speed Team last week El Colorado Centro de Montaña. Jack (James) Crawford, Cam Alexander, Brodie Seger, Raphael Lessard, Jeff Read and Sascha Gilbert trained mostly on lane 75 (Yaretas) and lane 82. Canada were at El Colorado for 9 days.

Top day El Colorado Centro de Montaña. Yesterday was our best day of the season so far. The weather cleared which allowed us to see the whole mountain. As you can see, plenty of snow❄️😱⛷️🎉

Resort Conditions update: It has been a difficult start to the season El Colorado Centro de Montaña with very little natural snow in June and early July. However, the snowmaking and groomer teams have made a tremendous job with providing an excellent surface on 4 of our artificial snow pistes. We opened our Resort on the 27th of June and since then the local Clubs have been able to continue with their free skiing drills.

Word got around that conditions were excellent on the limited terrain and we have had all the Ski Clubs from the neighbouring resorts of La Parva and Valle Nevado making the most of the current conditions. Yesterday we had our first early morning gate training session which was very productive.

Weather update: As of tomorrow one of the biggest storms in recent memory will be upon us and will continue right through into next week. The groomer Team is ready to pack down all the new snow and get our traditional lanes back into full working order as soon as possible.

Henrik, a heartfelt thank you for all you have done for Chilean skiing over the years.

Henrik Von Appen has recently decided to close the chapter on his ski racing career 🥹. No doubt a tough decision but he should be immensely proud of all that was achieved during his 13 years on the World Cup Circuit and decades in the ski racing game.

Among his accolades are multiple South American Cup wins, 97 World Cup starts, 3 Olympic Games (cruelly denied a 4th by injury), 17 World Championship starts and countless other achievements. We saw up close his daily grind and resilience as well as his passion for the sport which took him to a career best 14th on the World Cup Circuit.

He has paved a way for future generations of Chilean skiers and has demonstrated that a skier from Chile can reach the highest levels in Alpine ski racing. We will miss his frequent visits to El Colorado as well as his humble demeanor and good vibes.

We know he will continue to pass down his knowledge to new generations so that his legacy and achievements serve as a stepping stone for those coming next. Throughout the years we saw him grow into the ski racing ambassador he is for South American ski racing and we wish him all the best in his new endeavors. Enjoy family life and your new challenges. We signed off our 2025 season on a superb note. These images are from our last training session on Sunday 28th of September and conditions were still 🔥.

It was a successful season with over 100 teams choosing El Colorado as a training base. For the first time we had 2 watered pistes available for World Cup racers and others looking for the challenge.

Races of all types were held , including the very first South American Cup Para Alpine GS race in the history of the continent.

It was a pleasure hosting so many top names and teams from all over the world, including both female and male World Number 1's.

We look forward to welcoming you all in 2026! Until then, train hard, have fun and ski fast!

It has been very special to have the men's number 1 skier in the world for a period of two and a half weeks . Marco Odermatt and his team mates (Justin Murisier, Thomas Tumler as well as Stefan Rogentin) have enjoyed a productive camp at El Colorado. Both watered pistes, Lanes 7 and 9, were the main focus but they also trained Super G on Lanes 18 and 81.

What a treat it was to observe the skill, power and finesse at such close quarters.

It has been great fun and a real privilege to have the various groups of the Austrian Men's National Ski Team training here over the past month. The Austrian Team have made a considerable donation of Bnets for this season which is the start of a great collaboration between the Austrian Ski Federation and El Colorado. In light of the recent tragic ski racing accident in Chile, these Bnets will be a very welcome addition to the Resort's safety measures. A big thank you to all involved from Austria: coaches, managers, racers and collaborators.
