Henrik, a heartfelt thank you for all you have done for Chilean skiing over the years.
Henrik Von Appen has recently decided to close the chapter on his ski racing career 🥹. No doubt a tough decision but he should be immensely proud of all that was achieved during his 13 years on the World Cup Circuit and decades in the ski racing game.
Among his accolades are multiple South American Cup wins, 97 World Cup starts, 3 Olympic Games (cruelly denied a 4th by injury), 17 World Championship starts and countless other achievements. We saw up close his daily grind and resilience as well as his passion for the sport which took him to a career best 14th on the World Cup Circuit.
He has paved a way for future generations of Chilean skiers and has demonstrated that a skier from Chile can reach the highest levels in Alpine ski racing. We will miss his frequent visits to El Colorado as well as his humble demeanor and good vibes.
We know he will continue to pass down his knowledge to new generations so that his legacy and achievements serve as a stepping stone for those coming next. Throughout the years we saw him grow into the ski racing ambassador he is for South American ski racing and we wish him all the best in his new endeavors. Enjoy family life and your new challenges. Gracias totales!❄️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
