Un gesto de solidaridad.
Es lamentable que hayamos perdido efectivamente el acceso al despegue en Los Quenes (Culenar) cerca Curico.
GringoTodd invirtió un esfuerzo significativo y fondos personales en desarrollar un sitio de despegue notable. Alquiló maquinaria y cubrió gastos como la Maya Rachel. En los últimos años, he volado allí varias veces y reconocido su potencial. Cristóbal Oyarce también contribuyó al sitio estableciendo una operación Tándem y dedicando tiempo y recursos para mejorarlo.
Sin embargo, los propietarios del sitio de despegue han modificado los términos de acceso. Si bien tienen derecho a hacerlo, sus acciones revelan un enfoque exclusivamente en la ganancia financiera. Han estado cobrando $10,000 (despegue inferior) y $20,000 (despegue superior) por piloto para acceder. PERO ahora han añadido más restricciones. ÚNICAMENTE los pilotos que alquilan sus cabañas por un mínimo de dos noches pueden volar. Además, han prohibido a Cristóbal realizar vuelos en Tándem después de solo tres semanas. Muchos pilotos han experimentado negaciones arbitrarias de acceso o encontrado la puerta cerrada al llegar. Además de esto, se han negado a devolver la Maya Rachel a Todd y Cristóbal.
En respuesta, insto a la comunidad a boicotear este sitio de despegue. Sentirse obligado a quedarse y pagar por el privilegio de volar contradice el espíritu de nuestro deporte. Hay oportunidades fantásticas para hacer Hike and Fly cerca de Los Queñes, así que por favor, ven a visitarnos, pero no apoyemos a propietarios de tierras con intenciones dudosas.

It's unfortunate that we've effectively lost access to the launch in Los Quenes (Culenar) near Curico.
GringoTodd invested significant effort and personal funds into developing a remarkable launch site. He rented machinery and covered expenses like the Maya Rachel. Over the past few years, I've flown there multiple times and recognized its potential. Cristobal Oyarce also contributed to the site by establishing a Tandem operation and dedicating time and resources to its improvement.
However, the owners of the launch site have altered the terms of access. While it's within their rights to do so, their actions reveal a focus solely on financial gain. They've been charging $10,000 (lower launch) and $20,000 (upper launch) per pilot for access. BUT have now added more restrictions. ONLY pilots renting their cabins for a minimum of two nights can fly. Additionally, they've barred Cristobal from conducting Tandem flights after just three weeks. Many pilots have experienced arbitrary denials of access or found the gate closed upon arrival. On top of this they have refused to return the maya rachel to Todd and Cristobal. I have offered times to personally meet and find a solution only to be met with no interest .
In response, I urge the community to boycott this launch site. Being compelled to stay and pay for the privilege of flying contradicts the spirit of our sport. There are fantastic opportunities for Hike and Fly near Los Queñes so please come visit but lets not support such landowners with doubtful intentions.
