Soaring the Archaeopteryx up to the highest peaks of Switzerland.

Archaeopteryx customers are having fun:

Marlies by flying far. On 18.11.2024 her 629 km flight across the Australian Outback placed her on that day in WeGlide sailplane contest first, even in overall category!

Stéphane received his brand new Archaeopteryx S/N-038 a few weeks ago and earned last weekend his electric UL-glider license after two great days of flying in Schänis under Cornelia's training.

Kevin took over his new Archaeopteryx just last summer holidays and it looks like he really is taking advantage of his dream by flying it a lot, 65 hours in just a very few months.

Daniel too was very happy when receiving his Archaeopteryx in early spring. During the season we often saw him flying rom Schänis and saying that he actually operates a solar powered glider because he recharges the batteries by solar electricity earned from his balcony panels.

Great stories, congratulation to all of them and continue to having flying fun!

Canada Archaeopteryx News

Great feedback from Bernie the Canadian Archaeopteryx pilot. He happily reported lots of airborne time and kilometers flown this summer. Although Bernie has never seen the Archaeopteryx in reality before he received his own one in Canada he flies it perfectly. See him having fun at his easy looking short final leg landing after a long flight.

Late season cross country flying

Light season has arrived in the alps and still big fun to go for alpine cross country flights on the Archaeopteryx. On September 20, Roger launched from Schänis airfield by eDrive Gen3.1 and e-climbed out of stable lower air mass to reach light lifts along higher rock faces. When thermals went out after an exiting afternoon of alpine gliding over Eastern Switzerland and Western Austria he used the electric drive to cover the last few kilometers over lake Walensee to return to home base Schänis.

When uploading the track to WeGlide it turned out that it was the highest scored flight of all sailplanes in Switzerland, Austria and Germany that day. This remembered us again that super light electric Archaeopteryx is the perfect machine in light conditions.

Order now, fly in spring!

In recent years we have worked very hard to shorten delivery times despite some further developments (eDrive Gen3.1, Rescue System Gen2.1, French ULM Serial Certification). Now we are back to 6 months.

Super Flugfest letztes Wochenende in Interlaken, 50 Jahre SHV!

In der täglichen Flugshow auf der Höhematte im Zentrum von Interlaken durften wir den Elektro-Archaeopteryx vorführen. Zusammen mit dem Swift präsentierten wir die Klasse 'aerodynamisch gesteuerte Starrflügler mit E-Antrieb' in Aktion. Drei Tage lang gab es alle Hängegleiterklassen zu sehen: Delta, Gleitschirm, Tandems, Acro, Oldtimer, Elektroschirme, unsere Starrflügler, usw. Und von Cornelia einen Vortrag zur Entwicklungsgeschichte des Archaeopteryx.

Archaeopteryx e-drive Gen 3.1

With a new motor we have increased the endurance of the new Gen3 electric drive on our microlift glider Archaeopteryx even further. Often we are asked about its calm-air performance that can be achieved. That's how it looks:

Standard with two battery packs (2 x 1.5 kWh): full throttle climb 1850 m, distance in horizontal flight 85 km, flight time 1:05 h.
With range extender (for light pilots, three battery packs): 2800 m full throttle climb, 130 km horizontal flight, 1:40 h flight time.

New Archaeopteryx have been equipped with this latest Gen3.1 e-drive since last winter. All previous Archaeopteryx can be retrofitted with the new Gen3 or its latest version Gen3.1 if desired.

Beautiful high alpine flying season is on. Roger on Archaeopteryx flew from Schänis airfield to near Chamonix and back via Matterhorn. 4'300 m, 425 km.
