Pau Arnos. Free Practice 2.

“Paivarinta and Christie setting the pace”
The temperature was red hot for free practice two in “Pau-Arnos” up in the high thirties. This was surly going to affect the World Championship teams.

Straight out first was Harry Pain and Kevin Rousseau, they were setting the pace at first. The team are happy with how things are going, they have no machine problems, however driver Payne wants more, whether he can get it we will see in qualifying, they set the second fastest time of 1:21.422, a bit slower than free practice one.

Following them was Tim Reeves and Melanie Farnier, Reeves and Farnier have been having gear change issues, the team have worked on this, they have improved the problem but still have issues, they were happy with how things went today, and improved their time from the morning session, their time was 1:22.410, good for fourth fastest in the session.

The morning pace setter, Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie were caught up in traffic and were finding it hard to get a clear track, although it was free practice, the team wanted to find the limits at certain parts of the circuit, and being so hot this would be a good indicator to the team for the races, on their sixth lap they set the fastest time in the session, a 1:21.347. Albeit slower than the morning session the team are happy.

The third fastest team were Sam and Tom Christie, they are happy with how things are going and had no machine problems, they too are finding the limits for the races, and qualifying. They hope the morning qualifying session might improve their time. Again, like a lot of teams they did not improve their time from free practice one, their time was 1:21.871.

Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement slotted into fifth with a time of 1:23.352, a tad slower than the morning session. They are working on chassis set up which is taking longer than the team would like. They will be hoping tomorrow’s qualifying will be good for them.

A great free practice for Corey and Danyon Turner, they improved their time from the morning session, this was a 1:23.571. The team are really happy with this, saying, “to be in front of Schlosser/Krieg, Streuer and Vissenberg is a big step for us” they hope to continue tomorrow in qualifying.

Markus Schlosser and Lucas Krieg were seventh fastest with a time of 1:23.708. They had no machine problems and hope they will get a good qualifying time tomorrow.

Bennie Streuer and Manon Vissenberg were eighth fastest in the session, a bit slower than the morning session, but the team were happy with this, they are happy with how their machine is going with no problems, their time was 1:24.398.

The local team of Paul Leglise and Marjorie Cescutti were ninth fastest in this session; again their time of 1:24.719 was slower than the morning session, but they had made some adjustments to their machine which they were trying out. They did not have any problems.

Rounding off the top ten is Markus Venus and Thomas Hofer, they have been working away steadily getting to know the track, their time of 1:25.790 was slower than the morning session, but they had a shock to the system in the dying stages of the session. All was good with their engine, oil pressure, water temp was all good, but still their engine blew, they are working on this tonight for tomorrows qualifying session.

Qualifying will be at 10.35 local time.

🇨🇭 Swiss star Schlosser goes for FIM Sidecar World Championship gold 🥇

World Champion rider in 2021, Swiss star Markus Schlosser almost chose a career in the adrenalin-charged sport of Ice Hockey before swapping his stick for speed and following his father into the even higher-octane world of motorcycle racing.

“Sport was initially dominated by Ice Hockey,” he said. “I played for the Bern youth national team and was very successful. Motorsport then came into my life through my father, Franz. He bought a sidecar and started competing in hill climbs. That’s how I caught the racing bug at an early age.”

While the two sports are very different, certain qualities are required to succeed in both and the fifty-four-year-old credits Ice Hockey with teaching him the importance of discipline, team spirit and determination and this early education served him well as he quickly adapted to his new choice of sport.

Initially competing at the age of just thirteen alongside his father aboard an historic BMW Scheidegger sidecar, in 1990 the pair scored points in the Swiss championship at their first attempt before Schlosser moved across to the rider’s seat the following year and – with Bernhard Hänni in the chair – climbed to third in the Swiss rankings.

A year later Schlosser became the youngest-ever Swiss national champion – a record he still holds – before switching his focus to the FIM Sidecar World Championship and, although his participation in the series over the following years has at times been occasional, he won FIM bronze medals in 1998 and 2007 before striking gold in 2021 with Swiss passenger Marcel Fries.

Silver medals followed in 2022, 2024 and again last season with first Fries and then Luca Schmidt – with Schlosser and Schmidt only losing out by three points in 2024 and four in 2025 – before he rolled out at the start of this year with new German passenger Lucas Krieg.

With two rounds down and the third scheduled for this coming weekend (19-21 June) at the Pau-Arnos Circuit in South West France, the new partnership currently sits fourth in the standings, although Schlosser is naturally aiming higher.

“Of course, I’m not satisfied with fourth place overall. Our goal was – and remains – to fight for the title. However, if you consider the problems we’ve had in the first few races we can be glad that we’re still doing so well in the overall standings.

“A new partnership always brings challenges. Nevertheless, I feel that Lucas and I have got used to each other very quickly. We get on well both on and off the track and are already competitive. I think that if driver and passenger are a good fit then the time spent together plays a lesser role. That’s why I don’t see it as a major disadvantage for us.

“The most important key to a successful partnership is absolute trust. Without mutual trust, you cannot succeed [and] I have complete and utter trust in Lucas.”

Combining his day job in the maintenance department of a large company with a sideline as a successful engine-tuner ensures that life is busy for Schlosser, although all the time he keeps his eyes on the big prize – regaining the title.

“Winning the FIM World Championship was the greatest achievement of my sporting career. It was the crowning glory of many years of hard work, sacrifices and setbacks and I am particularly proud that we were able to prevail against many strong and, in some cases, significantly younger competitors. This shows that experience, team spirit and passion are still decisive factors.

“Of course, I would love to win this title again. That is why we compete every year. Furthermore, supporting young talent is very close to my heart. I am deeply committed to getting young people excited about sidecar racing and making our sport more appealing again. It would therefore be something very special if, together with Lucas, I could fight for the title once more and perhaps even bring it back.”

The opening fourteen-lap Sprint race from Pau-Arnos is scheduled to start at 18:40 (local time) on Saturday 20 June before the twenty-four-lap Main race gets under way the following day at 17:45 (local time).

Rounds three through to six of the 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship will be streamed LIVE on FIM-MOTO.TV.

FIM Sidecar World Championship.

Pau-Arnos. France.

The FIM World Sidecar Championship teams are all ready and rearing to go for round three of the championship in “Circuit Pau-Arnos”.

Disappointing news for the French fans! Ted and Vincent Peugeot have pulled out of the running this weekend. They have had engine problems and have no spare now.

Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie are setting the pace so far, not far behind is Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau, with the Christie brothers, Sam and Tom third fastest.

I will be a test of fitness and machine reliability this weekend as the temperatures have been in the mid to high 30’s, with it rising to 40 degrees for the end of the weekend.

👋 Payne and Rousseau lead FIM Sidecar World Championship chase into Circuit Pau Arnos Page Officielle

The 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship breaks new ground this coming weekend when, for the first time in its long history that stretches back almost eight decades, the series visits the Pau-Arnos Circuit in South West France and with just four points separating the leading two crews as the season approaches the halfway point, the action could prove to be pivotal.

Following the opening two rounds of the six-round series – staged at Le Mans in France in April and Grobnik-Rijeka in Croatia last month – it is 2024 champions Harrison Payne (ARS Yamaha) and Kevin Rousseau who lead the field, but the British/French pairing face stiff opposition from a talented grid of rivals aiming to reel them in.

Their closest opposition comes from legendary Finn Pekka Päivärinta (ARS Yamaha) – a five-time FIM Sidecar Rider World Champion – and his British passenger Adam Christie who are only four points adrift of the leaders following a commanding performance at round two when they raced to a double win to match the maximum points haul claimed by Payne/Rousseau at round one.

By following Päivärinta/Christie across the line both times in Croatia, Payne/Rousseau successfully defended their title advantage, but with the points gap less than the difference between first and second-placed finishes it is a fragile lead that could disappear with the slightest mistake.

While the leading two crews have opened a gap over the rest of the field, defending champions Sam and Thomas Christie (LCR Yamaha) are still within striking distance of the top of the standings, although with a twenty-two-point deficit to Payne/Rousseau the British brothers know they need to start closing the gap this weekend.

Champion rider in 2021, Switzerland’s Markus Schlosser (LCR Yamaha) has teamed up with German passenger Lucas Krieg for the first time this season and the new pairing is showing plenty of promise. With two fourth-placed finishes last time out in Croatia they are certainly podium contenders, but the gap to Christie/Christie is already nineteen points and they have two-time champions Todd Ellis (ARS Yamaha) from Great Britain and his French passenger Emmanuelle Clément only four points behind them.

Further French hopes rest with the son and father team of Ted and Vincent Peugeot (LCR Yamaha) who currently sit sixth in the standings, although they are counting the cost of a mechanical problem that forced them in out of the second race at Grobnik-Rijeka while running fourth.

Also suffering a mechanical DNF in the second race in Croatia, local hero Paul Leglise (LCR Yamaha) – who lives less than two hours’ drive from the circuit – and passenger Marjorie Cescutti scored a career-first podium together in the Czech Republic last year, but after a slow start to the season that has left them in thirteenth position they will be looking for strong home support to help push them up the rankings.

Adding to the international flavour, the Australian team of Corey and Danyon Turner (ARS Yamaha) – who lie ninth in the points – will make their second appearance together this season after Danyon missed the opening round through injury.

The opening fourteen-lap Sprint race from Pau-Arnos is scheduled to start at 18:40 (local time) on Saturday 20 June before the twenty-four-lap Main race gets under way the following day at 17:45 (local time).

Rounds three through to six of the 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship will be streamed LIVE on FIM-MOTO TV.

Pau-Arnos, France.

It has been nearly seven weeks since the teams contesting the FIM Sidecar World Championship supported by “Marin Motorsport” and “Sidecar Partners” took to the track. That was in Grobnik, Croatia where the “Flying Finn” Pekka Paivarinta and his passenger Adam Christie ruled the roost with two race wins bringing them to within 4 points to current leaders Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau who are sitting with 90 points; they finished with two second places in Grobnik. Sam and Tom Christie, defending their 2025 title came away from Grobnik with two third places placing them in third place in the championship with 68 points.

The next round will take place at a new circuit for the championship and a new circuit for most of the sidecar teams, except for the French teams. The 3.030km clockwise circuit of “Pau-Arnos sitting about 20km west of the city of Pau in the far south west of France. The circuit is undulating situated in rolling countryside. It will be interesting how the teams adapt from the normally open and flowing circuits, like Grobnik in Croatia. The championship will be support to the French national championship.

Fourth in the championship standings with 49 points is Markus Schlosser and Lucas Krieg, last time out Schlosser and Krieg were not running at full 100 percent, this was due to passenger Krieg taking a tumble from the chair resulting in bruising and skin grazing, the team did complete the weekend with sheer grit and determination from Krieg, he should be back to full fitness for this round.

With 45 points former double champions Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement sit in fifth place. The team have struggled to get to grips with tyre manufacture change and machine set up over the last couple of years. The team have worked hard to resolve this and are now starting to make good progress; with this being a new circuit it could be good for them as it will be a level playing field for everyone.

Top French team Ted and Vincent Peugeot are certainly a team to be feared here as they will have had experience at this circuit. They have had some good results so far this year and will be looking for the same if not better. Unfortunate for the team in race two at Grobnik, they were battling for a fourth place when they had an engine failure, if it had not been for this their points tally could be a lot better. They are sitting in sixth place so far in the championship with 32 points.

Seventh with 27 points is multiple champion Tim Reeves with his new French lady passenger this year Melanie Farnier. The team have had good practice sessions and qualifying sessions, however they have always complained of lack of power, they have had great starts during the races, but the team fall back from the leading pack as the race continues. So much so as they DNF in race two at Grobnik.

Equal with Reeves and Farnier with 27 points is Markus Venus and Thomas Hofer. The team have been working hard this season and have been involved is some good battles over the last two rounds, they have had good reliability and fairly new to road sidecar racing, driver, Venus is enjoying his racing a great challenge for him, and with Hofer in the chair, a passenger with lots of experience must be a great boost to his confidence.

Next up in the championship is the team from Austrailia, Corey and Danyon Turner. They have had a testing time to the beginning of the season with passenger Danyon breaking his wrist testing at Val de Vienne ruling him out for a good length of time. The team drafted in German passenger Luca Schmidt for Le Mans and for Grobnik, unfortunately Schmidt could not make the Grobnik round, however Danyon felt he was fit enough to do the weekend in Grobnik, a big ask as he had not been on the bike for a couple of months and the circuits are all new to him as so for driver Corey. The weekend turned out good for the team though, they were involved in some good battles and in the end the team were rewarded with ninth and seventh places to the delight of the team, overall so far in the championship ninth with 24 points.

Rounding off the top ten is team mates to Reeves and Farnier, Paul Kirby and Ema Salmon, they are only one point off the Turner Brothers. Unfortunately while the team were having a great battle in race two at Grobnik their machine lost power leaving them to fall back down the field; they did manage to nurse their machine to the finish line though giving them a lowly fourteenth place.

Bennie Streuer and Manon Vissenberg have had no ends of mechanical problems at the beginning of the season, but things have picked up for them since then, they had good battles in Grobnik, and I heard that the team visited the Pau circuit about four weeks ago, so they will have a good idea where the circuit goes. They are eleventh in the championship so far.

Kevin Cable and Yann Druel have had had a trouble free season so far and have been involved in good battles and then out on their own, they will be hoping for the same trouble free here in Pau and hope for good results to bring them up the championship table.

Paul Legalise and Marjorie Cescutti have not been having a good season, what with machine problems, contact with another team at Le Mans putting them one lap down on the other teams, handeling problems in race one at Grobnik, then an engine mounting breaking in race two, two DNF’s not what the team wanted.

Cyril and Gerald Vinet have been involved in good battles and will want to keep getting the better of Claude Vinet and Leane Marsal, keeping it in the family, but nestled in between them is Manuel Moreau and Alice Roba, there is only three points separating these three teams.

With five points apiece Lewis Nicol and Clement Conil missed out on Croatia after a crash in Le Mans leaving passenger Conil with a shoulder injury. Wiggert Kranenburg and Loris Charteau will be hoping for a better weekend here in Pau, they have had two DNF’s this season.

It was great to see Pierre Leguen and Leopold Rouby back on track, the team had some time away as Leguen was ill. They were happy to be back in Grobnik and were really happy with how their weekend went.

Michael Brillault and Fabrice Deturche have been working away steadily so far in the championship, they will be hoping that track knowledge will be a help to them and hopefully get them more points for their championship campaign.

Raymond Leijdekkers and Oceane Bataille have been another team working hard getting their lap times down and are happy with what they have achieved so far this season.

There will be two free practice sessions on the 19th June. One qualifying session and a 14 lap sprint race starting at 18.40 local time on 20th June. The main 24 lap race will be at 17.45 local time on the 21st June.

👏👏👏 Päivärinta and Christie close in on 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship lead in Croatia 🇭🇷

With a perfect two wins from two starts, the Finnish/British pairing of Pekka Päivärinta, maailmanmestari (ARS Yamaha) and Adam Christie closed to within four points of the series lead when round two of the 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship was staged over the weekend at Grobnik-Rijeka in Croatia.

Returning to the Automotodrom Grobnik for the first time since 2022, hot sun ensured conditions were challenging for Saturday’s eleven-lap Sprint race and while it was cooler for the eighteen-lap Main race the following day, at the front of the field the pace remained scorching throughout the weekend.

Former champions Harrison Payne (ARS Yamaha) and Kevin Rousseau drew first blood when they topped Qualification ahead of Päivärinta/Christie and defending champions Sam and Thomas Christie (LCR Yamaha), but with almost identical times there was hardly anything separating the leading three crews.

Powering across the track from pole position to get the best possible line into the first corner at the start of the Sprint race, the British/French pairing of Payne/Rousseau led Päivärinta/Christie and the Christie brothers into turn two and from here the top three positions remained unchanged for the first half of the race, although the British brothers did make a number of attempts to move into second with some brave late-braking manoeuvres.

Double winners at the opening round at Le Mans last month, Payne/Rousseau looked as though they were heading to a third consecutive win, but Päivärinta/Christie began to reel them in and with the clock ticking down the veteran Finn – a five-time FIM Sidecar Rider World Champion and official FIM ‘Legend’ – out-braked the leaders into the long left-hand corner before the start straight.

Once at the front, Päivärinta/Christie immediately began to check out and won by just over four-and-a-half seconds from Payne/Rousseau with the Christie brothers almost another eight seconds further back.

Following an earlier battle with Tim Reeves (ARS Yamaha) and Mélanie Farnier that ended when the British/French pairing appeared to partially lose power, Swiss star Markus Schlosser (LCR Yamaha) and his German passenger Lucas Krieg made a late pass on the French son and father team of Ted and Vincent Peugeot (LCR Yamaha) for fourth with Todd Ellis (ARS Yamaha) and Emmanuelle Clément close behind in sixth.

In a repeat of the Sprint race start the previous day, when the lights went out for the Main race it was 2024 champions Payne/Rousseau who led Päivärinta/Christie and the Christie brothers into the first turn, but this time around there was nothing to separate the leading two crews who staged a race-long battle for supremacy.

Looking incredibly evenly matched, lap-after-lap the two crews hounded each other with neither able to make a decisive move and when the chequered flag came out it was Päivärinta/Christie who took it by less than a second with the third-placed Christie brothers almost twenty seconds adrift of the winners’ pace.

Following a war of attrition that saw a number of teams withdraw with mechanical issues, including Peugeot/Peugeot who pulled out while fourth and Reeves/Farnier – who nursed their outfit to seventh in the opening race – who managed just three laps, Schlosser/Krieg crossed the line in fourth chased by two-time champions Ellis/Clément and the Dutch pairing of Bennie Streuer (ARS Yamaha) and Manon Vissenberg.

The focus now shifts to Pau-Arnos in France for round three of the six-round series on 19-21 June.

Selected rounds of the 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship will be streamed LIVE on FIM-MOTO TV.

“Two in a row for Paivarinta and Christie”

The weather was nice, sunny but not as hot as yesterday. It was a long race for the sidecar teams.

The lights went out and straight away it was Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau who got the whole shot into the first corner followed by Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie, right in their wheel tracks was Sam and Tom Christie, followed by Ted and Vincent Peugeot. There was a small gap then it was Markus Schlosser and Lucas Krieg, then Tim Reeves and Melanie Farnier holding off Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement, Paul Legalise and Marjorie Cescutti were right with Ellis and Clement. Next up was Bennie Streuer and Manon Vissenberg, Manuel Moreau and Alice Roba were next with Corey and Danyon Turner with them, right behind was Markus Venus and Thomas Hofer. Another small gap then it was Kevin Cable and Jann Druel, Pierre Leguen and Leopold Rouby were next with Raymond Leijdekkers and Oceane Bataille next. Michael Brillault and Fabrice Deturche were next up with Wiggert Kranenburg and Loris Charteau behind them, Claude Vinet and Leane Marsal were next up with Paul Kirby and Ema Salmon making up one place from the back of the grid, Ulric Brillault and Cora Marsal were bringing up the rear.

Lap one saw Moreau and Roba pull out with electrical problems.
Lap three Leglise and Cesscutti pulled off track with a broken engine mount. Also Reeves and Farnier pulled into pit lane with their machine losing power, same as yesterday. Lap four saw the Peugeot’s pull off with a blown engine; they were battling in fourth place when this happened.

At the front it was Payne and Rousseau leading Paivarinta and Christie, but unlike yesterday Paivarinta/Christie were right on the leaders looking for the pass, these two teams were starting to make a safe gap on the third place team of Sam and Tom Christie.

Schlosser and Krieg were in a good battle with Ellis and Clement, Schlosser/Krieg were just getting the better of Ellis/Clement. Ellis and Clement were making moves to pass but Schlosser/Krieg were just that bit stronger.

Streuer and Vissenberg were on their own as were the Turner Brothers. Venus and Hofer were batteling with the Turner Brothers but the managed to pull away and make a good gap.
Once again like yesterday, Kirby and Salmon were making up places and slotted into tenth.

Again like yesterday there was a fair old dingdong going on at the back of the field, Vinet and Marsal were fending off Kranenburg and Charteau who in turn were fending off Leguen and Rouby. There was a small gap then another battle between Brillault and Deturche, Leijdekkers and Bataille. Brillault and Marsal were at the back.

At the front Payne and Rousseau were swapping places for the lead with Paivarinta and Christie, they were getting great drive up the back straight and would outbreak into the long left hand corner before the start finish straight, and then Payne Rousseau would have another go for the lead, this went on till the chequred flag came out and it was Paivarinta and Christie who took the race win. Payne and Rousseau took second with Sam and Tom Christie taking a safe third, the top three podium spots were like yesterday.

Schlosser and Krieg managed to keep ahead of Ellis and Clement for fourth place.

Streuer and Vissenberg took a good safe sixth place ahead of the Turner Brothers Seventh, these two teams had a bit of a lonely race not getting involved in any battles at the end of the race.

Another two teams out on their own were Venus and Hofer who took eighth and Kirby and Salmon ninth.

Rounding off the top ten was Cable and Druel, they were out on their own too.

Vinet and Marsal still in battle took a well-earned eleventh with Kranenburg and Charteau twelth, Leguen and Rouby took thirteenth, Brillault and Deturche were fourteenth. From ninth place to fourteenth, these teams were all one lap down on the leading eight.

Two laps down finishing in fifteenth place were Leijdekkers and Bataille, with Brillault and Marsal bringing up the rear in sixteenth.

A good weekend racing with some great battles, the next round will be in June when the teams head back to France to Pau-Arnos, a new track for most of the teams.

“Paivarinta and Christie on fire”

It was hot out there! The sun was beating down on 20 sidecar teams on the grid ready to start the 11 lap race.

As the lights went out Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau let go and from the outside on pole position they powered across the track for a better line into the first corner, right on their tail was Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie, Sam and Tom Christie were on the outside running alongside Paivarinta/Christie, Ted and Vincent Peugeot were tucked in behind on the middle of the two teams in front, Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement were on the inside with Markus Schlosser and Lucas Krieg alongside, Tim Reeves and Melanie Farnier were looking for a gap through the middle but the teams in front were holding their own, Bennie Streuer and Manon Vissenberg were on the inside with Paul Leglise and Marjorie Cescitti in the middle holding off Manuel Moreau and Alice Roba. Markus Venus and Thomas Hofer were next up with Corey and Danyon Turner right on their tail. Kevin Cable and Yann Druel were next fending off Pierre Leguen and Leopold Rouby, Michael Brillault and Fabrice Deturche were in the middle with Wiggert Kranenburg and Loris Charteau just behind on the inside, behind them was Claude Vinet and Leane Marsal, on the inside of them was Raymond Leijdekkers and Oceane Bataille with Ulric Brillault and Cora Marsel alongside, Paul Kirby and Ema Salmon were bringing up the rear.

By the second corner Payne and Rousseau had made a small gap on Paivarinta and Christie who had also made a small gap on the Christie brothers, the rest of the field gave chase and were all safely through the first two corners.

The biggest gain by half way round on lap one was from Kirby and Salmon, they had big cooling problems in qualifying, this was the reason for them starting from the back of the field.

Mid race the top three teams were out on their own and it looked like Payne and Rousseau had a comfortable gap between them and Paivarinta and Christie, The Christie brothers Sam and Tom did make some attempts to pass Paivarinta and Christie braking into the first two corners but Paivarinta/Christie were too strong for them.

The battles behind the top three were all the way down the field to the back, with teams making the pass but then going back as the other teams made the pass back, this went on right through the race.

This certainly had the crowd in the stands and on the top of the hill on their feet.

Schlosser and Kreig had a great battle with Reeves and Farnier throughout the first half of the race then the Reeves/Farnier machine went off song, it was down on power but the team soldiered on. This let Schlosser/Krieg get away and set about catching the Puegeot’s.

Other great battles were between Streuer/Vissenberg and Leglise/Cescutti they were swapping places on each lap until Leglise/Cescutti had a handling issue, they fell way back down the field, but another team who soldiered on.

The Turner brothers were also in a three bike battle with Moreau/Roba and Venus/Hofer,.

Cable and Druel were also in battle but managed to brake free and started to make up some ground on the three teams in front but the gap was too much.
By three quarters distance Paivarinta and Christie were catching Payne and Rousseau going into the long left hand corner before the start finish, Paivarinta and Christie made their move out braking Payne and Rousseau for the lead, immediately they started to make a gap, Payne and Rousseau had a good cushion on the third place team of the Christie brothers.

By the end of the race the chequred flag came out to a delighted Paivarinta and Christie, they also had the fastest lap of the race, a time of 1:30.935. Payne and Rousseau took second with the Christie brothers third.

Schlosser and Krieg fought their way up and passed the Peugeot’s for fourth, The Peugeots were relived to take the fifth place as Ellis and Clement were breathing down their neck by the end of the race.

Reeves and Farnier managed to get their machine to the finish in seventh place with Streuer and Vissenberg eighth.

The Turner Brothers fought hard and were rewarded with ninth they fought off Moreau and Roba, tenth, with Venus and Hofer eleventh.

After such a promising start and mid race, Leglise and Cescutti managed to get to the line in twelfth place; they found that they had a front wheel problem.

Cable and Druel took thirteenth; they were catching Leglise/Cescutti but they had enough of a gap.

After making up so many places early on, with one lap to go the Kirby/Salmon machine just lost power, the team limped home to cross the line in fourteenth place.

The last six teams battled throughout the whole race and were to finish 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th respectfully, one lap down, Vinet/Marsel, Kranenburg/Charteau, Leguen/Rouby, Leijdekker/Bataille, Brillault/Deturche, Brillault/Marsel.

If today’s race is anything to go by, tomorrows 18 lap race starting at 11.35 local time could be a cracker.
