Match Report 26.04.2025:
Under sunny skies in Wurenlos, the combined team from St.Gallen, Konstanz, and Liechtenstein showed grit and growth across two intense matches.
First Game: vs Bern
Score: 5 - 29
Try Scorer: Sarah (1)
The opening match against Bern, known for their physicality, was a real test of our adaptability and resilience. Our forwards had to work hard, battling at every tackle, ruck and set piece. Early on, some ball-handling errors in the backline put extra pressure on the forwards, who had to dig deep at scrum time. Bern capitalized on a few gaps in our defensive line, but despite the setbacks, we fought back hard.
In the second half, we found our rhythm: the connection between Natalie and Debbie at 10 and 12 clicked, creating vital space for our fast outside backs. Sarah seized the opportunity, using her pace to score a fantastic try. Although some opportunities from our side were missed just before the try line, the match clearly showed how dangerous we could be in attack. Our defensive organization also tightened significantly, conceding far fewer points in the second half. This game laid a strong foundation for what was to come.
Second Game: vs Würenlos
Score: 22-17
Try Scorers: Sarah (2), Corina (2)
Conversion: Natalie (1)
Bonus Point: Earned for scoring 4 tries
Facing the home team Würenlos, who were determined to secure a win after their loss to Bern, demanded maximum effort from everyone. From the first whistle, we set the tone with big tackles from Michaela, strong running lines from Tanja, and incisive steps through Würenlos‘ forward defence from Raphaela. Louisa’s carries gained important metres, allowing our backline to strike with speed and precision.
Our efforts were rewarded with a bonus point, our connection as a squad is growing, and the foundations are firmly in place for the next game!
