ℹ️⚠️ Hobbywing Technology G5 13,5T BASE SETTINGS ⚠️ℹ️
Salton D**g and myself spent some extra days to finetune and find the optimal performance for different conditions with the new Hobbywing G5 SPEC Motor.
In the attached picture you find a chart that breaks down the two most important power settings (timing & ratio) for our G5 13.5T spec motor in a 1/10 touring car (for Asphalt Outdoor tracks).
From there, fine-tune with timing and gear ratio based on the conditions at your track.
At the EFRA EC warmup race in Luxembourg we used mostly 40.5/4.05 and 41.5/4.15, switching between the two as conditions shifted through the day. The LMCC track features a straight over 60m long, surface temps were between 45–60°C, and medium-to-high traction.
Both the Standard and Torque versions performed well, with only a small difference in control feel. Our take: if the motor is running hot, go with the Torque version!
⚠️ IMPORTANT: A strong 40mm fan on the motor is mandatory.
I recommend to have it connected to the MXLR FAN BOOSTER for best cooling performance!
Set it up right, run it hard. 💪
