Last year I missed the sign-up. This year I was fast - two teams registered, and not long after, 18 runners were all in ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผโฃ

๐Ÿ”๏ธ 215km, 2500m elevation. Start and finish in Montreux. Estimated 21 hours on the move.โฃ

I paired up runners by level - running buddies. Best decision ever:โฃ

Yes. All of it.

๐‹โ€™ร‰๐ญ๐š๐ฉ๐ž ๐๐ฎ ๐“๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ has been a journey - not just physically, but mentally. Itโ€™s been tough behind the scenes, and we questioned many times whether we should even do it. But we did. And Iโ€™m proud of that.

Thereโ€™s relief - maybe even before the performance itself. Relief in deciding yes, weโ€™ll show up. Relief in putting an end to all the questions: Have I trained enough? The right way? Can I handle it?

I donโ€™t want pain to be an excuse, but my leg hasnโ€™t been cooperating for a while ๐Ÿ˜ค I managed the training the best I could, but I feel I have more in me - just not with this leg in its current state. Itโ€™s time to deal with it!

Despite that, Iโ€™m thrilled with my result: 9th in my category and 102nd woman overall โ€” as the oldest in my age group๐Ÿซฃ Cycling is growing fast among women, and the level is incredible ๐Ÿ’•

Of course, I did it with my partner in crime - my husband . In awe of his performance! Now living in a flat country ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ and facing new challenges, he absolutely nailed it ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ - and as always with a smile ๐Ÿ’™

The route was stunning ๐Ÿ˜ The organisation impressive and the atmosphere unique as always ๐Ÿฅณ I felt strong and in control on the first four climbs, stuck to my plan, and even made time to take in the beauty around me. The final 20km climb? Brutal - it just never ended ๐Ÿฅต

Now thereโ€™s that familiar post-race emptiness. All the hours, all the focusโ€ฆ and just like that, itโ€™s done. But another unforgettable experience. And luckily we have another challenge just around the corner ๐Ÿค—

Blocked back and some personal things that needed more of me. Itโ€™s easy to think we need to keep pushing, posting, doing. But sometimes what we need most is a pause - even if itโ€™s uncomfortable.โฃโฃ

Itโ€™s been a couple of quiet weeks here and Iโ€™ve been mostly offline - stepping back, listening to what I needed, and trying not to feel guilty about it.โฃ

The classes have still been running and Iโ€™m so grateful for those whoโ€™ve kept showing up, even when I couldnโ€™t be there in full.โฃ

Stepping back isnโ€™t giving up. Sometimes a step back is just part of the process. Itโ€™s making space. For healing, clarity, and the energy to come back when itโ€™s time.โฃโฃ

The ๐š๐๐ฏ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฉ started the 10 week program yesterday with a tough session! ๐Ÿ’ช The runners were all focus and determined and we tackled 3 tough blocks of pace work, gradually increasing intensity while staying in control. Exactly the kind of structured effort needed to get faster over 10km! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธโฃโฃ

I learned this firsthand with my first marathon in 2015. It was brutal. I was flying the first half, then struggled the last half, got my nutrition all wrong (a few sips of water and some Dexoryl - not ideal!), and at the finish line, I told my husband to never let me do it again. But two years later, I came back stronger. Since then, every marathon has been a lesson, a step forward - sometimes also backward before going forward again - all a part of my evolution as a runner.โฃ
