To lose fat, KEEP IT SIMPLE! 😁​

Sounds harsh, I know. But it’s 💯 true!!​

It’s easy to get distracted and spend time thinking about the small details of what you’re doing, when really, it’s the “BIG ROCKS” that matter​

✅ ​ Creating a modest calorie deficit using the tools that FIT YOUR lifestyle (send me a DM if you need help with which ones make sense for you)​

✅ ​ Recognizing that you didn’t gain weight OVERNIGHT and it WON’T disappear tomorrow EITHER. ​

✅ ​ Approaching fat loss as an UPGRADED LIFESTYLE and NOT a TEMPORARY “diet” - this will only lead to a frustrating reality of DIETING YOUR WHOLE LIFE!​

✅ ​ Recognizing that an ALL OR NOTHING mindset of PERFECTION will NOT get you where you want to be. Focus on being “a bit better everyday” will be YOUR WIN ​

Sure, the small things matter…but in smaller ways 🤔​

- How much fat vs carbs​
- What time to workout​
- What style of cardio to do and how much​
- Creatine, BCAAs, or other supplements​
- What vitamin stack to take​
- How many times per week to train​

I’ve been there before…and not for a contest or shoot prep 😖​

But back when I thought to lose body fat, I just had to skip all carbs…though, to be honest, I never quite made it to “ZERO” carbs…❌​

What about you? ​

Ever tried to basically cut carbs out of your life in order to lose fat / lose weight?​

So, the “SECRETS” of losing body fat ARE NOT the things that seem EXTREME, or ATTRACTIVE, or EASY ❌​

⛔️ A zero-fat, or a zero-carb diet plan…​

⛔️ Doing tons of endless cardio ​

✅ PATIENCE!!!!​

✅ Structuring most of your diet around minimally-processed / single-ingredient foods​

✅ A consistent calorie deficit week over week (but not for an extended period of time…hit me up for specific advice in the DMs)​

✅ Most likely, you’ll need to increase your protein and fiber intake ​

✅ Actually working lifestyle change OUTSIDE of your exercise and nutrition routines….eg. Stress management, Sleep, Digestion…)​

It's been a while since I said hey and introduced myself. 👋🏼

For all my new followers, and even some of you guys who've been here supporting me from the beginning (Thank YOU! 😬🙏🏼)

I'm Jason - a Jamaican fitness and health coach, living here in Hawaii on the small island of Kauai

Everyday, my goals are to bring fitness and health top of mind for you and provide sources of INSPIRATION so that you can BELIEVE that you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to - from a weight loss target to a final "dream physique" 💯

I've gotten so much from my love for training over the years - stress relief, social support, confidence, discipline, improved health, and now a massive sense of purpose in working with my clients in ways that truly touch all aspects of their lives

😱 I'm legitimately terrified of flying, but am a TOTAL AV-GEEK and love planes!

BIG CLIENT WIN🔥🔥​

JN was able to lose OVER 17 lbs in our FIRST 3.5 WEEKS working together!!in “this specific time frame”! ​

Today I want to celebrate him for his AMAZING early achievement 🙌🏼​

He’s UNDER 300 LBS for the FIRST time in OVER TWO YEARS ​

When JN and I started working together a few weeks back, he was struggling with:​

❌ ​ Knowing how to eat to continue to support initial weight loss successes with the CONFUSING range of “diet strategies”, and supplements out there​

❌ ​ Not knowing how to incorporate RESISTANCE TRAINING to get stronger and accelerate his fat loss​

❌ ​ How to BALANCE a busy and SUCCESSFUL career with his health and fitness goals. ​

This was leading to a struggle to have the CONFIDENCE that he will be able to be CONSISTENT over the long haul to achieve HIS GOALS ​

It was causing him to feel UNSURE of his own PLAN to get there​

As we’ve been working ​ together, we’ve focused on prioritizing nutritious foods - high protein intake, prioritizing veggies, staying hydrated; creating STABILITY and developing SKILLS in ​ resistance training ​ ​

And so far at this EARLY stage:​

✅ ​ He’s LOST close to 20 lbs​
✅ ​ His CONFIDENCE in the gym is WAY UP​
✅ ​ His BODY COMPOSITION ​ is starting TO CHANGE in PHOTOS​
✅ ​ He’s TRANSFORMED his approach to nutrition​
✅ ​ He’s still ENJOYING MEALS OUT at restaurants​
✅ ​ His ENERGY LEVELS are HIGH to support his DEMANDING CAREER​

Now he’s recognizing that LOSING WEIGHT is a LIFESTYLE SHIFT that he CAN EXECUTE & ENJOY!​

I’M JUST NOT A LUCKY PERSON! 😖

Have you ever had that feeling, or that thought roll around your head?🤦🏽‍♂️

Chances are if you’ve thought that once, you’ve thought it a million times!

The truth is, we all need to let go of that negativity and lack of self-efficacy and limited thinking!💯

If you paused for a second and looked at all you have; paused to reflect and be grateful🙏🏼

Then taken even more time and recognized that much of what you have been able to accomplish in life is closely related to 3 things💥

You had been PREPARING and putting in meaningful work and effort🔥

You exercised PATIENCE and diligence with habits / actions / routines🔥

You were PERSISTENT in your pursuit of the goals you wanted to accomplish🔥

Give me a 🙌🏼 if that’s as true in your life as it has been in mind👇🏼

As we head into the holiday weekend, grateful to celebrate the independence of the country

YOU’RE TOO OLD To Get Fit & Into Shape!! 😖​

Which one of these has crossed your mind? I know for me, I’ve heard the voice in my head say every single one of them at some point…​

Your metabolism is slower. You don’t have the same energy that you used to. 🤦🏽‍♂️​

Your life is so much more busy. You can’t seem to recover from workouts. 🤷🏽‍♂️​

Gaining weight happens so much faster these days😖​

Losing fat used to be easy, and now it’s just stuck to me 🤦🏽‍♂️​

Today, I’ve turned 42😱​

AND I’’m actually HAPPY with my age because, if I think back, 42 used to seem REALLY OLD to me, BUT​

Now that I’m HERE in my 40s, I can SAFELY SAY that I’m in BETTER SHAPE now, than I was in my 20s!🔥🔥​

The SAME CAN BE TRUE FOR YOU! 💯​

My biggest wish for today is that YOU GET INSPIRATION FROM MY PATH 🙌🏼🙌🏼​

That you RECOGNIZE for yourself that being FIT & HEALTHY IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU AT ANY AGE! 💥​

🔥 The Moment I REALIZED You Can Be In GREAT SHAPE at ANY AGE! 💯
It took me UNTIL I WAS ALMOST 40 to get into the best shape of my life and have the physique I ALWAYS WANTED
So sure, I’ve taken THE LONG ROAD to where I’m at right now
Why? It’s not because I didn’t have discipline, or focus, or information
It’s mostly because I was CONFUSED about different approaches in training and nutrition, allowed DOUBT to pull me in different directions
Fell for marketing and MYTHS like everybody else
To get lean, I tried low carb approaches. I tried low fat approaches, I ate too little
I bought COOKIE CUTTER PROGRAMS online from people with millions of YouTube subscribers
I trained as hard as I dared - 5-6 times every week for at least 10 years
I totally got to a FAT 230 LBS at one point (let’s just say getting a PhD was a depressing grind that brought me there)
I spun my wheels A LOT!
Then I decided reading what I could hurriedly (life was crazy busy) and watching conflicting flashy YouTube videos WASN'T WORKING! 😖😖
I decided to work with an ACTUAL COACH - remotely, yes but someone who was there to add their guidance. To educate me in areas I didn’t understand and support my already solid work ethic and determination
I still had doubt for sure, and I was still impatient
But I’m LIVING PROOF that your best is possible no matter your AGE
And even more, it’s now MY JOB to help ALL MY CLIENTS to avoid my own mistakes and frustrations
To guide them to a better understanding of themselves, fitness, nutrition, lifestyle habits, the feedback their bodies are giving them and how to make sustainable changes to create BETTER VERSIONS of their already awesome selves
My journey of trial and error now has PURPOSE!

🚨 Eating Fat Is The Devil!! Am I Right?! ⚠️

🤔 No, wait - isn’t it that CARBS are the devil!!?
Yep - there are some pretty solid camps on either side of this one
👀 But what if we stop for a minute to look at the benefits of fats…
✅ First of all, they’re important in the regulation of the levels of some hormones, like the steroid s*x hormones, testosterone and the estrogens…kinda important
✅ Next, some fats (fatty acids really) are ESSENTIAL - meaning that the body cannot produce them on it’s own and so we need to get them from the foods we eat
✅ You’ve probably heard of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids…these are super important in inflammatory response regulation with the Omega-3s being anti-inflammatory and Omega-6s which are pro-inflammatory
😱 What you may not realize is while both are important, our modern diets are FULL of Omega-6s so we need to concentrate on getting more Omega-3s
✅ If you’re in a calorie deficit, including healthy fats with your meals (which should already be high in protein and fiber) can help you to feel full longer - super important when you’re generally consuming less…
💥 A bonus point is, if you’re in a calorie surplus while building muscle it can be pretty hard to get in all your food with minimally-processed sources. Adding some fats makes things easier because they are so calorie dense at 9 cals/gram!
💥 numero dos = we all know that high-fat foods taste really good! Fats help to make food more palatable from a flavor and texture standpoint
😋 Occasionally when in a sustained calorie deficit, a high-fat meal can provide a well-needed psychological break (in addition to possible metabolic benefits!
