Day 1 at the in Lenk.
42.6km, 1980m+ ( data) - 6 hrs 13 mins.
Day 1 of 3 was always going to be hard to hold back. Great organization, amazing scenery and super company. The first 15k of mainly climbing seemed to pass in a breeze, legs feeling good. The first descent wasn’t too technical and nice to open up a bit. An undulating 10km was fairly energy sapping and I started to feel the legs around 30km and 4hrs in. Important to keep fueling and hydrating as we need to remember we’re eating for tomorrow! GO and electrolyte powder was easy kcal, and some bananas at the aid stations. Topping out at around 2,800m, pretty windy, before a slightly more technical descent into Lenk. Great running with .n for pretty much the whole race made the km’s tick over quicker - thanks for the great company!
Recovery will be short but sweet, ready for another round tomorrow. I think it’s 47km with 2,700m of verts. Tasty!

Arriving at the weekend (nearly) and starting to mentally prepare for tomorrow. Nothing beats that pre-race feeling, a mixture of excitement and nervousness. In fact, it’s mainly nervousness if I’m honest. Especially when the alarm will go off at an ungodly time. As soon as you cross that start line though, the nerves vanish and it be becomes a battle of the body and mind. One foot in front of the other, each one a step closer to the finish and a well deserved cuppa tea ☕️.
Good luck to everyone who just set off on the 160km at see you out there tomorrow!

Short, steep and savagely technical. Yesterday’s trail run was more like a skyrace. 27km with 1,800m of climbing, topping out at 2,400m.
Quick race report: Started easy with no expectations other than to enjoy the day. I started at the back so a few traffic jams in the early k’s as we moved to single track. Lowland grass trail was soon replaced by rock and as we started to climb, we covered the first km of vert in just under 7km, and 1hr 5min. I started to pass quite a few people and I decided that I’d push hard if I felt good.
The first climb was rewarded with some amazing vistas as we gradually dropped 500m to 14k and an aid station, I didn’t eat much preferring to overtake about 10 people and focusing on the nutrition I had with me. These races are less about time and more about fighting for places, each one hard earned. We soon headed back up, a technical and rocky undulating trial. Topping out at 2,400m we then had a narrow and exposed trail down the other side. Amazing fun, climbing over sharp rocks and hammering down ridge line trails. Testing out some new Brooks Cascadia trail shoes kept my feet protected, although the terrain opened up the blisters from the Scenic Trail 3 weeks back. Just gotta keep going.
Passing another 3 or 4 people as the trail opened up and dropped into the village of Ancelle, I was very pleased to see the finish line. My legs pretty much blew up in the last 400m. I finished in 3hr 48min and 44th place which I was pleased with.
Congratulations to who battled though tired legs to finish in 5hr 20min. Super star, well done 😘. Thank you to everyone at the race- the organization was incredible and people super friendly. I think we were the only non French locals running this weekend, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

What a weekend down at the !!! Firstly HUGE congratulations to the 3 legends that finished the 3 day race, all between 25 and 27 hours! , Fede and Paolo - Beasts. In that weather I take my hat off amigos, incredible stuff. Well done!
A massive well done and huge thanks to the support crew. Team work makes the dream work, and that’s exactly what went down this weekend. and Adam, we had an absolute blast 💚.
What is the Gigathlon? A 3 day, multi sport endurance race around Switzerland. Roller blading, swimming, mountain biking, running and road biking. Travelling between transition zones, crew is essential. Great to learn about a new event and even better to watch friends succeed and meet incredible new people along the way. I didn’t race this weekend but was well and truly knackered today. Work was a blur and I doubled my caffeine intake. If you can’t rip up the weekends, when can you do it 😂.

Big day yesterday. First off a huge thanks to everyone who sent awesome messages of support, especially when I was looking grim at the end!
Massive well done to yesterday for smashing the 27km (2,200+) race - she’s a machine! Huge thanks to for running the first 30km with me, as soon as he left I basically passed out 🤣.
Race report: first 28km felt strong, especially on the climbs. 28-35km were the longest 7km of my life. 2 nasty blisters see photo 7), some nausea and dizziness, kept slipping and tripping. I led down on the floor in the forest for 20 mins and tried to sleep. I lost easily 25 places. Could have been the heat and humidity, could have been lack of kcal. It was a case of one foot in front of the other and watch each km drag by every 20 minutes. 35-50k I felt on fire, my legs and head came back and I was descending well and gained probably 30 places. I switched to coke, orange segments and water melon, doubled my salt intake. The last few km were a blur just holding on for dear life.
I finished just outside the top 100 in 9hrs 18mins, and needed a good hr to come back to life. Massive thanks to for another cracking day out, albeit at km 30 I wanted to end everything 💚.

I went into yesterday’s race with zero expectations. A super busy work & travel schedule, never perfect training (I swam once this year!) and out of nowhere 30 degree weather. The key was to enjoy the day, which I did thoroughly, and bank the miles for some upcoming events. I finished in 5:10 on a tough course with a smile on my face.
A massive thank you to as always, for being an awesome support crew! 😘
Well done everyone who raced and massive congratulations to and who both completed their first Ironman 70.3!!
