𝐃𝐣𝐢𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢 played its first international match under the name French Somaliland, at home against neighbouring Ethiopia on 5 December 1947 and lost 5–0. [3] The two played again in Djibouti on 1 June 1948 and Ethiopia won 2–1.

Current state of play 𝐃𝐣𝐢𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢`𝐬 football clubs generally perform very poorly in continental competitions, as well as its national side. Poor financial conditions in the country led to the withdrawal of 2008 league champions, Socialite Immobiliere de Djibouti (SID) from the CECAFA Club Championship in the same year. This has helped in the growth of women`s football, with more teams getting established all around the country and not just being confined in the capital of Djibouti City, which has been another problem that has been facing the sport in the country. Improving training in East Africa Djibouti has also helped its neighboring countries like Somalia in their footballing progress by hosting a high-level FIFA refereeing course earlier this year for Somali referees. The future of football Despite Djibouti`s progress and initiatives to improve football in the country, the East African nation is still considered one of Africa`s weakest sides and still underperforms in continental competitions.

The Liechtenstein Football Association (LFV) is the governing body for football in the Principality of Liechtenstein. It was founded in 1934 and is responsible for organizing and overseeing all aspects of football in the country, including the national teams, domestic leagues, and grassroots development programs.

The LFV is a member of both FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and is subject to their rules and regulations. Despite its small size and limited resources, the LFV has made significant strides in recent years, particularly in developing its youth programs and improving the performance of its national teams.

Liechtenstein’s national football team has never qualified for a major international tournament, but has achieved some notable results in competitive matches, including a famous 2-1 victory over Latvia in a World Cup qualifier in 2001. The domestic league, known as the Liechtenstein Football Cup, consists of just seven teams, with FC Vaduz being the most successful club, having won the cup on numerous occasions. 🇱🇮

The Evolution of Football in Brunei: A Historical Overview of the Brunei State Amateur F.A.

The Brunei State Amateur F.A. (BSAFA) has played a significant role in the development of football in Brunei since its formation in 1952. Based in Kuala Belait, the association initially did not incorporate teams from Brunei Town, which had its own Brunei Town Amateur F.A. However, it did include teams from Miri, just across the border in Sarawak. The annual Shaw Shield competition between representative sides from Belait District (Brunei) and Miri-Lutong District (Sarawak) was a highlight of the football calendar between 1951 and at least 1962.

The Early Years: 1950s and 1960s
During the 1950s and 1960s, BSAFA tournaments featured a mix of teams from various clubs and organizations in the region. Teams such as PWD Sports Club, Belait Police, Panaga Club, Malay Club, KBRC, BSRC, All Malay Stars, Dayak Club, Chinese Club, AAC Senior Team, St Michaels’ School, and Brunei Shell Trade School were regular participants in these competitions

A Brief History of the Brunei National Football Team.
The Brunei national football team, also known as Pasukan bola sepak kebangsaan Brunei, is the pride of the small Southeast Asian nation of Brunei Darussalam. Established in 1959, the team has a long and storied history in international football. Controlled by the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam, the team joined FIFA in 1969 and has since competed in various regional and international competitions.

Early Years and Challenges

The Brunei national football team made its first appearance during the 1972 AFC Asian Cup qualification. Unfortunately, they were unable to qualify after suffering heavy defeats in all three matches. The following championships in 1976 and 1977 also ended in disappointment for the team. However, in 1980, Brunei achieved its first and second victories during the Summer Olympics, showcasing its potential on the international stage.
In 1979, Brunei entered a team to compete in the professional Malaysian league. Despite facing tough competition from Malaysian clubs, Brunei struggled to make an impact. However, in 1999, the team shocked everyone by winning the prestigious Malaysia Cup, marking a significant milestone in Brunei’s football history.

Major Achievements and Setbacks

Brunei’s first and only Brunei Merdeka Games trophy came in 1985, showcasing the team’s ability to compete at a high level. However, since then, the team has struggled to qualify for or win major tournaments. The closest they came to success was during the 1993 Philippines International Cup, where they finished in third place after defeating the Philippines 1-0.

In 2006, Brunei was invited to participate in the inaugural AFC Challenge Cup held in Bangladesh. Despite putting up a valiant effort, the team narrowly lost to Sri Lanka before bouncing back with a victory against Nepal. However, a goalless draw in the final match resulted in Brunei’s elimination from the tournament, highlighting the challenges faced by the team on the international stage.
