"Un jour, j’ai un client qui est à quatre pattes sur l’arête de l’Aiguille du midi, il était fatigué. Je lui dis : "Écoute, donne-moi ton sac” et il me répond “Non, je ne donnerai pas mon sac”. Du coup, je le lui ai presque arraché des épaules, et je l’ai mis sur mon sac. Et arrivé en haut, il me dit “Promets-moi, tu ne diras pas à ma femme que tu as porté mon sac”."

Sylviane Tavernier est devenue, à moins de 30 ans, la première femme à intégrer la Compagnie des guides de Chamonix (qui ne fonctionnait qu’au masculin depuis sa création en 1821).
