Workshop of Jeremy Nelson
in dance improvisation
from Friday 28 June 7 p.m. to Sunday 30 June 4 p.m. in Grütli
Saturday at Impasse
Organisation contact improvisation dance association ADCI
The approach worked during this intensive workshop explores the relationship between several essential elements directly linked to dance, including: bodily thinking, bodily processes, body construction and bodily performance.
Curiosity and examination of our own process is fundamental: how do they interact? What types of knowledge do they produce? Through simple exercises and practical work leading to improvisation, learning involves scores that involve touch, gift and weight; and other scores of individual and collective improvisations. We approach our body as a place of inquiry where we can examine our movement patterns and interests, thereby opening ourselves to the possibility of change. This physical research is influenced by my over 40 years of study on somatic practices, mainly the Klein Technique™, the Feldenkrais Method®, but also techniques such as the Alexander Technique® and Bodymind Centering®.
