Essential Roots, Quirky Blooms 🌱🌸✨
We spend years refining skills demanded of us for a job or school—yet we often ignore, minimize, or misuse our deepest intrinsic strengths, which are sometimes the very "quirks" that make us unique.
Over last Friday and Saturday (Sept 4 & 5), I had the privilege of facilitating a workshop titled "Essential Roots, Quirky Blooms," focused on our shared human connection and the innate strengths (and quirks) we tend to hide, over-exploit, or hesitate to claim.
A standout moment was an immersive art activity where each participant received a specially curated unique color palette to visually express their inner "quirk" on paper—turning abstract strengths into vibrant, physical reality 🎨
Three core reflections from our weekend:
💫 The Baseline Fallacy: Developing functional life skills is essential, but true breakthrough comes when we recognize our unique, innate capabilities and nurture them—simply because these define our authentic selves and make our inner child dance and thrive.
💫 The Fear of Magnitude: Many of us hesitate to embrace our core abilities because they feel "too big," unearned, or demand vulnerability.
💫 Misuse vs. Mastery: When we don't respect a core strength, we often end up overusing a small fragment of it for short-term gains rather than long-term growth.
A huge thank you to every participant who leaned into these deep, creative conversations over the weekend!
📌 Question for you: What is one core strength or quirk you've realized you hesitate to fully own?
