Time for another mix to get you through your swim, bike or run session. This one is packed full of atmospheric drum and bass and some easy rollers. One for all the junglists out there.

This mix can be used as an unstructured training ride. Start with a good warm up. Then when you’re ready to begin the session hit play. When the music is pumping, you should be pumping, that’s your cue to ride at threshold. When the atmospheric breakdowns come, it’s time to rest and pedal soft.

For all coached Trilogy Training athletes we have a tailored interval session that can be loaded directly in to Zwift or your Garmin as a workout.

It's a yay from me. There's nothing quite like a session in the snow.

The winter can be tough in the northern hemisphere but if you have lofty ambitions then it’s essential to keep the workload going.

The snow makes things tougher but I find it also boosts motivation. We all like to pretend we're in that snowy training montage in Rocky IV right?

November saw a new half marathon personal best for me. Unfortunately the same race also highlighted what turned out to be a dreaded stress fracture. I’m now on the return from injury and enjoying getting back to it. However, it’s always good to take some time to reflect before steaming on…

Injury is hard to avoid in endurance sports and it can be tough to deal with, not least mentally. At Trilogy Training we like to view it as an opportunity to take the time to do things you don’t always get time for. What are your secrets to dealing with injury? Have you got any tips to add to ours below?

- Let the medical professionals take care of things.
- Reflect and address any underlying issues that contributed to injury.
- Make the most of the injury period by spending more time with friends and family.
- Keep fitness where you can (I was still able to swim with my fracture).
- Review your aims and goals.
- Review your ‘priority podium’. What are your current priorities; personal life, work, training?
- Use the time to review and plan your return to training thoroughly.

Finally, collaborate with a coach. They can help you throughout the process. They can also help you to build mental resilience, particularly if injury is something you get overwhelmed by.

Excited to be racing for Team Zoot in 2025.

It has always been important to me to partner with those whose products I would use regardless of sponsorship. That couldn’t be more true with Zoot. I have always used their tri suits on race day when the choice has been my own.

Keep your eyes peeled for the kit drop in March!

Things that make Trilogy Training smile:

- Swimming, cycling, running
- Bikes
- Clean bikes
- Good cycling infrastructure

So imagine our delight when combined good cycling infrastructure with clean bikes!

Maybe we can use it for a mid-run cool down as well... 🥵🤔

This week it's a leg burner! For triathletes, duathletes and even the cyclists taking on the Olympic road race this weekend.

After last week's swim session we now have a bike set that we would advise taking on towards the end of your base period or even throughout a build block.

I personally like to give this session to my athletes and also use it myself. It is especially good for measuring progress when carried out on the same hill/course each week. In order to do this make sure you start your reps at the same point each time on your chosen course.

Happy training! 💪

We’re right in the thick of race season! Most recently we had Philip at Goodwood Motor Circuit duathlon.

This was the first time Philip has competed over the standard duathlon distance. Philip came to us with lofty duathlon goals, especially seeing as he was picking up running as a brand new discipline. It has been a story of development and not always straightforward.

Now all the hard work is beginning to pay off and there is lots more to come. We’re looking forward to continuing the story and you can expect some exciting future updates.

Here’s one from our toolkit to get your teeth into this weekend!

Kicking off our weekly workout series is a foundational endurance swim set.

This set totalling 2400m would sit nicely in the base period of both a Half and Ironman distance training plan. There should be a focus on good form throughout the main set to develop the muscular endurance required for long distance triathlon and staving off the breakdown of the stroke from fatigue.

For more experienced age groupers, the duration of the session can be extended by including an aerobic endurance set after the main set, a 500-1000m continuous rep at an easy zone 2 pace.

Happy training!

Hot off the back of Swissman, Trilogy Training were at Challenge Roth.

Both coaches and athletes were in action. Success was the order of the day with lightning fast times from everyone.

Congratulations first to committed athlete Joanna who achieved a PB over the distance of 11:25:07. Having spent some time in the medical tent on the run, not only did Joanna continue on but she finished strongly at a rapid pace. We also love to see a smile in the race photos. A truly admirable performance.

Congratulations were also in order for Cameron who obliterated the sub 9 barrier with a time of 8:46:57. Again, a truly incredible time as Cameron battled illness in the weeks before Roth. Whether he would make the start line was a question in itself.

A mention also needs to be made to the people of Roth and the surrounding towns and villages. The way they get behind the event is inspirational 🥳
