16th place finish for us at the Ace & Company World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Geneva. A rollercoaster of a week coming away with 3 wins and 6 losses during pool play. We ended up facing a relegation game, but we rallied together to take the win and secure New Zealand a spot at next years Worlds. A lot of learnings to take away and build on for the following season.

A big thank you to our super coach, Coach Kim. Thank you for passing on your wisdom and sharing your belief in us. Thank you for sticking with us when times got tough. You truely are a superstar.

Great to have a chat to Simon this morning! 2 weeks until we head away to the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Geneva Switzerland 🇳🇿🇳🇿

Jess Smith just joined us in the studio ahead of her big trip to Switzerland for the World Mixed Doubles Championship for Curling 🥌

In 2020, at the age of 23, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma cancer, and after a difficult treatment, she recovered and returned to the ice, including the international stage, leading the New Zealand women's team to win the right to play at the 2023 World Women's Curling Championship for the first time in Women's World Curling Championship history.

We had a good weekend competing in the NZ National Mixed Doubles Championship in Naseby. However this time after a best of three final taking it to an extra end and to the last stone we unfortunately didn’t come out on top.
The heartbreak feels quite raw, with missing out on representing NZ at not only just the Worlds next year, but also the opportunity to try qualify for the Olympics through the Qualifying event in December.

We put everything we had into it and despite the result this weekend we can’t help but still feel proud of how far we have come over the last year, qualifying 1st from the world qualifying event in Scotland, to making the top 10 at the World Championship.

We have so many people to thank who have helped us along the way.

Jordan, you keep us organised and on track, you may not know everything about curling (yet) but you know competitive sport and help keep us in the right mind set.

The season is finished for us for now however this won’t be the last you see of Team Smith. Getting knocked down just gives us the opportunity to get back up even stronger.
