The Nebraska Barons are the 16-time USA Wheelchair Softball national champions based in Omaha, NE. The team has won 9 national championships in13 years. apart.

The Nebraska Barons are a wheelchair softball team based in Omaha. The team plays in several tournaments throughout the Midwest every summer. The players live primarily in Omaha and Lincoln but membership is not limited to these areas. The field is specifically designed for wheelchair softball with the surface being very smooth asphalt with a painted finish similar to a tennis court. The outfield fence is approximately 155 feet in the corners and 200 ft. at center and the bases area 50 ft. Even with the fence at this distance home runs can and do happen. The field is located in Seymour Smith Park at 72nd and Harrison in Omaha. The game is played with a 16 inch Chicago style softball. The ball is approximately twice as big as a regular softball. This allows for the players to not use gloves and thus allow for easy maneuver of the wheelchair. Batting is accomplished according to the players ability. Many players bat off to the side with one hand and others bat two handed as in regular softball.
