Read that again...
I can relate to this...for years and years I remember thinking...what is all the fuss about?... it's only drink...not as if I'm a smack head or anything...I mean that's serious s**t that is...
Then slowly but surely it starts to dawn on you..that your drinking for any reason at all, to socialise, to have fun, any excuse really...
But like me...the last 5 years of my drinking I wasn't drinking to have fun...I was drinking to function, sleep, talk, eat, get out of bed....not die!!...but all the while it was slowly killing me...
That's the grip of addiction..especially alcohol in my view...because it's socially accepted...a fun drug...it welcomes you in like a great friend...then dumps you in the gutter with no remorse at all...leaving you to fend for yourself....
Sneaky, deceiving, unexpected, and I think this is why many don't speak up....because of feeling ashamed or embarrassed of being caught out by this drug....
No shame at all...it can happen to anyone...and it does....please TALK about it..it really does help...spot the signs...
Be strong...be brave...
Much love ❤
