Happy Chinese New year !

Our outdoor Chinese take away / restaurant role play area was enjoyed by all the children today. We enjoyed eating warm spring rolls for snack outside too !!

Sticks are a fantastic natural resource ! Today the children have loved using them to create these happy little hedgehogs ( Great for developing hand, eye co-ordination)
Please remember to use safety goggles for staff and children !!

Using loose Autumn treasures to make a tree picture with groups of children is great fun and never the same twice !
After the activity ,children can be left to sort the natural resources in to baskets , looking carefully at differences / similarities in colour, shape ,length etc.
These can then be left out for children to make their own individual pictures.
Tip - children can take photos of their own picture and print them off to display .

Autumn is such a lovely time to work outside with children. There is so much to see and do !
The children have been fascinated by all the spider webs that they have found, today we have used sticks and string to make our own spider web catcher. Great for developing communication,team work, fine motor skills ,shape,space ,measure and ofcourse learning about their environment. We have planted them around our setting and are hoping to get some resident spiders very soon !!

It's International Mud Day !
A great excuse to get marvellously mucky in some lovely squelchy mud. Not only is it fantastic fun,but it's good for you too ! Scientists believe that contact with the bacteria in mud helps you develop a strong immune system and can relieve stress.
It's still a good idea to wash your hands after playing though !
