Most people trying to get in shape immediately think they need more cardio.

More running.
More classes.
More calories burned.

But before adding more cardio, I’d focus on getting stronger.

Most people think strength training is about looking better.

But one of the biggest benefits of strength is maintaining your independence.

Carrying groceries.
Picking things up.
Climbing stairs.
Moving confidently.

The stronger you are, the easier everyday life becomes.

That’s one of the reasons I focus on 6 foundational movement patterns inside my 6 Movement Blueprint.

Usually it’s because they’ve lost strength.

A better place to start:

✅ Step-Ups
✅ Goblet Squats
✅ Split Squats
✅ Carries

Build strength in those movements and everyday activities start feeling easier.

Stairs.
Walking.
Getting off the floor.
Keeping up with your kids or grandkids.

Strength changes more than most people realize.

But age isn’t usually the problem.

Arm and shoulder exercises are great...

but they shouldn’t be the foundation of your training.

Get stronger at the 6 foundational movement patterns first.

Then build on top of them.

Most people assume stairs get harder because they need more cardio.
In reality, one of the biggest things they’re missing is strength.

Stronger legs, glutes, and core make every step easier.

If fat loss is a goal, improving your strength while maintaining a higher-protein diet and staying in a manageable calorie deficit is usually a much more effective long-term strategy than simply trying to burn more calories.

Build strength.

Move better.

Make everyday activities easier.
