Potential might give you a head start.

But practice is what determines where you finish. Being naturally good at something can only take you so far. At some point, talent has to meet repetition. You do it once, then again, then a thousand more times. You notice what’s wrong, make an adjustment, and repeat the process. Slowly, the movements become sharper, the decisions become instinctive, and what once felt difficult starts to feel natural.

Potential is exciting because it shows what you could become. But practice is powerful because, given enough time, it turns what you could become into what you actually are.

Don’t be the person who gives up.

How much you willing to suffer ?

I don’t think the goal is to become that 10-year-old kid again.

He didn’t know what pressure felt like yet. He didn’t have expectations to live up to, people watching, results attached to his name, or a career built around the thing he loved doing.

I do now.

And maybe that’s part of growing up. The things you love eventually become more complicated. Dreams turn into goals. Goals turn into expectations. And somewhere in there, you have to learn how to protect the part of you that wanted all of this before any of it actually mattered.

I’m still ambitious. Probably more than I’ve ever been. I still want to win. I still want to see how far I can take this.

But I’m starting to understand that success isn’t worth much if, in chasing it, you lose the person who wanted it in the first place.

Maybe the real challenge is learning how to carry both.

The hunger I have now, and the joy I had then.
