In Episode 3 of Our Shot, Ray, assistant coach of the University of Guelph women’s basketball team, shares how Lisa Leslie inspired her love of the game and reinforced the power of representation in sport.

For Ray, a Guelph University women’s basketball coach and lifetime hoops fan, seeing Lisa Leslie compete at the highest level wasn’t just inspiring. It expanded the dream. Because sometimes all it takes is seeing someone who looks like you doing it first.

That’s why we created Our Shot — a She’s4Sports documentary‑style series where Canadian athletes, coaches and day‑one fans share how the game shaped and impacted their lives.

Episode 1 features Shannon — a public school teacher, former York U hooper and mom — whose journey began in Aurora watching Cal Bouchard - the first Canadian player ever selected in a WNBA draft, dominate like the future was already hers. That moment lit a spark that pushed Shannon to dream big, play hard and show up for the next generation.
