Sadly, we have lost a special person this week. Gloria Goodwin was the backbone of the Yarmouth County Sports Heritage Hall Of Fame. A dedicated person behind the scenes from the Hall Of Fame's inception to the relocation to Main Street, Gloria worked tirelessly to make this all happen.
She was the glue that kept the committee focused and on track, doing so much of the behind the scenes legwork that was so important, yet rarely seen. Gloria dedicated hours and hours organizing the Induction Banquets, critical fundraising, and so many other duties that allowed the Hall Of Fame to be able to exist.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Wayne, her daughters, and to all her extended family and friends. We have lost one of the best.

We are so sorry to learn of the passing of George Baker this week. On behalf of the Yarmouth Sports Heritage Hall of Fame, we extend our sincere sympathies to George's children, Jo Anne, Jody & Geoff, their families, and to all of George's extended family.
George Baker's name goes hand-in-hand with Yarmouth bowling. A true legend of the alleys, a 2-time Yarmouth Sports Hall of Famer, George was considered to be one of Yarmouth's elite bowlers. In addition to his bowling skills, he was also a skilled baseball (Yarmouth Gateways) and basketball player.
Sadly Yarmouth has lost another sports legend. George will forever be remembered, along with his wife Joan (who passed in 2008) & son Geoff, all Hall of Fame inductees, as one of the true Yarmouth Town & County Sports Hall of Fame families.

Unfortunately Yarmouth has lost yet another sports icon. Sadly, Keith Bridgeo passed away last week.

A legend on the baseball diamond as a player, umpire & coach, Keith was known throughout the Maritimes. When Yarmouth baseball is mentioned, it usually is accompanied by the name Keith Bridgeo.

Keith was also well known for his hockey officiating, refereeing many, many games in the Yarmouth/Sable Fish Packers/Digby Senior hockey rivalries in the 70's & 80's.

The Yarmouth Town & County Sports Heritage Association, Yarmouth Baseball, so many older fans and younger players he helped to develop, have lost a special and elite sports legend who contributed so much to the Yarmouth Sports community.

Our sincere condolences to all of Keith's family and friends. We too will miss Keith but he will be forever remembered at the Yarmouth Sports Heritage Hall of Fame, where his picture and accomplishments will adorn the walls.

Congratulations to two of our Yarmouth HOF athletes who recently added to their numerous achievements. Competing in the National Raquetball Championships in Brossard, Quebec, Cliff Hood & Reg Atkins won silver on the national stage. Staying young through sport, Cliff & Reg continue to compete at top levels with outstanding results.
