HOUSE SITTING 🏠❤️

It is such a privilege to be able to look after people‘s homes, pets, and gardens.

I take great pride in this. ❤️

I have a lot of experience with all the different kinds of animals: 🐕 🐈‍⬛🐎🦎🐓

Being a homeowner myself for many years, I know what upkeep, maintenance and the sense of pride of homeownership looks like.

When I housesit, I like to do something a little bit unexpected, always leaving their home a little bit cleaner or inviting than they left it.
That could be fresh flowers on the counter, a small meal in the fridge, cleaning a shower drain, some task they didn’t get to before leaving, cleaning windows, weeding a garden…
I love visualizing the homeowners coming back from being away, walking in the doors and immediately feeling relaxed and calm, especially after feeling weary from travel. 🧳 ✈️

It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement.
When you go away, you want to have peace of mind that if the power goes out or there is a winter ‘deep freeze’, your home is taken care of.

You know your pets will be more at ease in their own home while you are away.

Smitty and Juno come with me on our housesitting adventures and I always take great care and time to introduce my pets to yours so we have a harmonious and enriched household while you are away. 🐕‍🦺❤️🐈❤️🐓

I will be leaving beautiful Baja on Thursday to make the long drive back to Nova Scotia. 😭
I’ll be back in the Wolfville area August 22/23rd, with house sitting availability Aug 24-31, and more time after Sept 12.

If there are pets, I prefer longer gigs (more than a week) as it is way better for the pets to find ease with each other in their own time…

Winter books up very quickly and I prioritize longer stays (with solid commitment!) over the shorter ones 😉

I’ve been making ginger beer to replenish my gut after being on antibiotics and antifungal medication for about a month.

Folks have been asking me how to make it, so I thought it would be best to make a little tutorial 💁🏼‍♀️

This is part one where we make the bug!🐞
(A ginger bug is similar to a sourdough starter)
It will take 3 to 4 days for the bug to develop some fizziness and if you smell it, it will smell like a good fermented ginger product.
The time it will take will depend on how warm the environment is.

I start with a couple of tablespoons of grated ginger 🫚
*don’t peel it. Keep the skin on*
A tablespoon of raw sugar
1/4 cup, drinking water
Pop these three things in a jar with a lid And give it a good shake.
Leave it on your counter.
Next day do the same thing.
Do the same thing again on the third day, give it a sniff and listen for bubbles after you shake it.

In part two, we will use this ginger bag to make ginger beer! 🫚🍺

Something very fun is brewing. 😬
You know when you meet the exact right person at the exact right time, and you start telling them about your little dreamy-dream that you have, and they get so pumped about it that you just start squealing together, a lot…?

And then they start telling you about this incredible skill set you didn’t even know they had. (But you believe it because they are so multi-skilled and talented❤️) And it’s perfect for what you wanna do, and it fills all the gaps of the skills that you DON’T have… ?
And you start finishing each other’s sentences…
And you have so much in common!!
You even have the exact same lap top!!!!
OK, I’m rambling now, but holy cow!!
