Our very own Cathie Haworth! Cathy is an invaluable member of our management team and runs one of the best community centre canteens in Winnipeg!

Cathie has dedicated over 30 years to GCCC. A lifelong resident of Garden City, her commitment to volunteering started while she was raising her family. She often worked behind the scenes—score keeping, preparing snacks for teams, organizing events, and willingly stepping in whenever necessary.

Cathie began working in the Canteen in 2008 and soon took over its operation. The small Canteen grew in popularity immediately. She was the obvious choice for Canteen Manager when the concession in the Seven Oaks Sportsplex began operation in 2015. Cathie’s steadfast dedication to the Breakaway Grill, our Centre, and the broader community is exceptional.

She enthusiastically welcomes and organizes local high school volunteers, mentoring them alongside her team to help

young employees learn from her exemplary work ethic and level of commitment. She is a valued member of the Garden City Community Centre family and widely respected by her colleagues and the concession team.

Seven Oaks Sportsplex is hosting a number of hockey camps this Spring and Summer. These camps offer a variety date/time options for every skill level. New to our facility and north Winnipeg this year is Vigier Hockey. Links to other camps offered at our facility can be found on our website. A Special Meeting is being called to amend Article 5 of the Garden City Community Centre Inc. Articles of Incorporation. This article addresses the purpose of the community centre which requires updating from the original purpose established in 1989.

The meeting will be held January 19, 2025 at 7:30 pm in MPR 201, Seven Oaks Arena 745 Kingsbury Avenue. All residents of Garden City are invited to attend.

Our ODR is now open! Please note in the event of extreme temperatures (windchill colder than -28C) we will close the outdoor facility. The ODR will remain open on December 31st and January 1st however there will not be access to the indoor facilities during those dates.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE - Due to blizzard-like and unsafe travel conditions expected overnight and Thursday morning, our facilities will be closed tomorrow. All programs and bookings scheduled before 4 pm are cancelled. We’ll update you once it is safe for our staff to return and the lot and entrances have been cleared.
