My name is Hazel and I first fell in love with Zumba in 2010 when I started out as a participant. I love Zumba for the music, the easy to follow moves and how it feels like a party rather than a workout. Over the years, my passion for Zumba grew and I was motivated to become an instructor myself. In 2012, I got certified in Zumba Basic 1, Zumba Gold and Zumba Kids and Kids Jr. all within a few mon

ths. In 2013, I got certified in Zumba Toning (with weights), which is my favourite format to instruct. Recently in 2016, I got certified to instruct STRONG by Zumba which is a class I would love to incorporate into my schedule in the future. My goal is to be as inspirational as the instructors that I have met and to inspire and help others reach their fitness goals through Zumba!

I’m excited to announce that this holiday season, we will be supporting Mama Bear Clan and the North Point Douglas Women’s Centre (NPDWC). Our donation drive will run from Dec. 8th to 17th concluding with a FREE CLASS on the last day. This class is FREE TO JOIN but registration is required at hazelzumbafitness.com/classes

🏠 About North Point Douglas Women’s Centre ()
The NPDWC began as a community empowerment project in 2000 and has since grown into a vital hub where women and their families can gather in a safe, welcoming space. Rooted in matriarchal leadership and community-driven support, the Centre focuses on safety, healing, and access to essential resources. Through compassionate and culturally safe programming, it continues to support women in restoring balance in their lives and communities despite ongoing challenges related to violence, racism, and poverty.

🐻 About the Mama Bear Clan ()
Founded in 2016 by the NPDWC’s Women’s Warrior Circle, the Mama Bear Clan is a community safety initiative grounded in relationship-building and the Seven Sacred Teachings. What began with a small group of women dedicated to fostering safety and care has grown into a volunteer team of over 500. Guided by the principle “led by our women, supported by our men,” the Mama Bear Clan patrols the community to offer connection, trust, and support to neighbours—both housed and unhoused.

▫️ Bring a monetary or item donation to classes between Dec. 8th to Dec. 17th (most needed items include non-perishable food, hygiene products and new or gently used winter clothing)

Zumba is so much more than a workout. It’s about community, connection and coming together to support causes close to our hearts 💙

I’m feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who attended last Monday’s donation class to celebrate my 13 year Zumba anniversary in support of Parkinson Canada. This organization funds important research, supports individuals living with Parkinson’s and works to improve quality of care across the country.

Your kindness, energy and generosity helped raise $550, which will be donated in memory of Linda Koskie, my boyfriend’s aunt, whose life we honoured this past weekend 🕊️

Don’t mind me being a little emotional tonight 🥹

I had a special guest in class — Ashley, who last danced with me 10 YEARS AGO at “the legion!” She moved to Florida in 2015, eventually settling in Ontario and never did Zumba again… until the pandemic brought us back together virtually. She’s been a virtual regular ever since!

This week, a work trip brought her back to Winnipeg and she made time to come to my class in person. I can’t explain how full my heart feels 😭

As if that wasn’t special enough, she also met Kristin, her Zumba friend from Facebook. They finally got to dance together IN REAL LIFE for the first time!

It was a wild and wonderful Wednesday ❤️

13 years ago, I received my Zumba certification — not knowing I was also signing up for one of the most meaningful journeys of my life 💃🏻✨

What started as a workout quickly became a way of life. Since then, I’ve built a supportive community, gained incredible friendships, faced challenges head-on and stepped out of my comfort zone in ways I never imagined. I’ve grown so much, not just as an instructor, but as a person.

You all bring the energy every single class and give me something to look forward to week after week. It’s extra special to still be dancing with people who’ve been with me for over a decade 🤯 and just as exciting to keep meeting new faces who instantly feel like family 🫶🏼

Thank you to all of you for dancing through life with me. Let’s keep the party going!
