20.09.1929 – 30.11.2020
It is with heavy hearts that we received this morning the announcement of Sadamu Uriu shihan's (9th Dan – JKS) passing. Uriu shihan was one of the pioneers of Karate in Brazil and the head of JKS Brazil. We mourn his passage and honour the teachings. Uriu shihan leaves a great legacy and will be forever in the heart of his students around the world.

Our thoughts are with the Uriu family during this difficult time.

We take our community's health very seriously. We worked very hard to develop training plans that would fit every single health and safety guidelines released by the provincial and federal governments.

However, following the Manitoba’s chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin's announcement on Friday, and the last updated numbers and critical level (code red) reached in Manitoba, we've decided to pause, once again, all our activities at the dojo.

In the meantime, please take the necessary precautions and continue training at home. Yes, it's possible!

Stay active, stay healthy, stay safe. We're gonna get through this. 👊👊👊

Today's training is in honour of the survivors. 🧡

WE FIGHT.

_____
Repost • • • Residential schools opened in 1876 and were designed to remove Indigenous children from their communities, families, and culture. It is estimated that 150,000 children were placed in the system, and that 6000 children died while attending residential schools.

The last residential school closed in 1996. Let that sink in.

The negative impacts and trauma of this cultural genocide, as well as the continued oppression and systemic racism against Indigenous people, is still apparent today. We must do better.

Today we honour the healing journey of the survivors of residential schools and their families, and honour the memory of those who who did not survive.
