Here we have a 37* McEwan niblick. At 37* this absolutely pushes the limits of a niblick or any long nose club. This is solely a feathery club. I hope it will help its owner comfortably escape the bunkers.

I have a question for all the hickory golfers out there. I have had two clients recently ask how to find hickory players in their area. The two areas are Reno-Tahoe and Vermont. If you are a hickory player from either of these places, your group might eventually grow by one player. Thank you in advance.

No disrespect to all the lefties out there but I’m starting one of my least favorite builds. This is left handed clubs. Building primarily right handed clubs, the lefty is completely backwards. It may not sound much different but it is. What happens once I start a batch is slowly it feels somewhat normal but it takes a few to get in the flow. These are about to receive horn. Two McEwan long spoons, a Jackson short spoon and a McEwan niblick.

Here is a D. Mitchell middle spoon. It is a display club and not meant to be re-shafted. The head is real size with lead, horn, scare and whipping. The specs are identical to a playing club. This would make a great gift for your favorite golfer. More to slowly be released.

This club has been confusing me for years. It’s a McEwan middle spoon. Very upright with a large head. The wider head allows you to add more loft. I believe a middle spoon should have between 20-23* of loft. Depending on how long you believe a middle spoon should be is an open question. For this one to sit properly it needed to be shorter than the first few I built. When building these long spoons you must have an open mind. Back then people came in different heights. For the masses this club at around 39” long would be perfect. For someone 6’5” or taller, it could be an inch or two longer. For the most part I believe clubs followed a pattern but every now and then you come across a template that goes against the grain. The challenge is to figure it out and make it playable.

Here are the same clubs from my last post with finish. Now 8 coats of oil.

Four clubs about to get their first coat of oil. Three I can happily say are going bye bye once completed.
