Easily overshadowed by the spring walleye bite, don’t forget about our world class channel catfish fishing on the famous Red River

The cats have been absolutely feasting, with hot and heavy action since opening day. We’ve had regular guides entertaining guests and treating them to the world, famous bottom dwelling fury of the Red River.

On a recent trip our long time Engel group put the pedal to the floor and absolutely smashed the Kitties with Blackwater Cats Guide, James Patterson boating, 138 cats in seven hours of fishing.

Absolutely epic bite going down on Lake Winnipeg.

Long time regular ice fishing guests and good friends Aaron and Kevin and their families smashing fish up on big windy and enjoying everything that Hecla Island has to offer.

The last two days my boat has been Blessed to the tune of 605 walleye on the clicker and so many 25 to 26 inch fish that I almost shook off a 27 and three-quarter without batting and eye lol

talk about getting spoiled Fishing in this unbelievable water body

With four masters boated in two days the highlight absolutely is both Aaron getting his personal best 30.75 walleye and his son Tristan getting back to back master anglers with a 28 inch walleye and then his personal best 30 inch walleye

It’s been absolutely beautiful weather with little wind

The last few days has really given us poise to just take a breath, slow down and really absorb what we’re experiencing. All I can do to describe the last few days has been calling it a snapshot of heaven. .

In fact, the Fishing and the experience has been so good that on this particular trip we feel they’re just is not much more to accomplish for Walleye so we’re actually heading down tol Red River to slam some jumbo feisty felines!
