MAWA Road Trip to Saskatoon!

MAWA is organizing a trip to Saskatoon for the Hound Classic and Huskie Open, November 26–28!

This is a great opportunity for our Manitoba wrestlers to get some more matches in and compete against athletes from other provinces.

The $200 fee includes transportation from Winnipeg or Brandon, two nights of accommodations, and coaching and supervision throughout the trip.

Leave Winnipeg: Thursday, Nov 26th, noon
Back to Winnipeg: Saturday, Nov 28th, evening

Open to wrestlers in Grade 9 and up.
MAWA membership is required.

Looking for something different to do this Halloween? Before the trick-or-treating begins, come hit the mats for a FREE Try Wrestling session!

Open to ages 6 and up, this session is a great opportunity to experience wrestling, learn new skills and challenge yourself in a fun, supportive environment!

No experience or wrestling equipment needed! Just wear athletic clothing, bring a water bottle and come ready to give wrestling a try! 🎃 Halloween costumes are welcome! Please choose a comfortable, wrestling-friendly costume that allows for safe movement. No masks, capes, zippers, hard accessories or props. Athletic clothing underneath is recommended. For everyone's safety, coaches may ask participants to remove any costume items that could pose a risk during wrestling.

Our first tournament of the season was the Submission Challenge in Fargo, North Dakota, on September 12!

James and Treyvon kicked off the season by stepping onto the mats for some tough Jiu-Jitsu competition.

The first wrestling tournament of the season is in the books!

I always enjoy the Big Buck tournament in Moorhead because it brings some of the best young wrestlers from North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. It's a great opportunity to compete against some tough competition early in the season.

Big shout-out to Sam, Dagur, Dima, Lucas, Mateo and James for competing hard and giving it their all this weekend!

What an INCREDIBLE week at the WAMMA NextGen Summer Camp!

What happens when you bring together athletes from different clubs, welcome friends from the United States, and create an environment focused on learning, leadership, and hard work?

An unforgettable week.

Every day challenged our athletes to become better—not just on the mats, but as people. We explored what it truly means to be a leader, how to take responsibility for yourself, and how to positively influence those around you. Through every lesson, workout, and conversation, our athletes learned that leadership starts with the choices you make every day.

20 athletes trained in our morning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program. 26 athletes took to the mats for our afternoon wrestling sessions.

The week was packed with: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training, Wrestling instruction, Strength & conditioning sessions, A fantastic Lunch & Learn on leadership and nutrition, an inspiring guest presentation from AI Advantage Academy, exploring how artificial intelligence can help us learn, create, and prepare for the future.

Athletes showed determination, resilience, and a willingness to learn. They pushed themselves through every practice, conditioning session, and challenge while building friendships and camaraderie with athletes from across Manitoba and our American friends. The work ethic and positive attitude throughout the week were incredible to see!

We wrapped up an amazing week with an EPIC pool party full of laughs, and great food.

A huge thank you to all of our athletes, parents, coaches, guest speakers, and everyone who helped make this camp such a success. Watching these young athletes grow in confidence, leadership, and skill is exactly why we do what we do.

The countdown is already on... We can't wait to welcome everyone back for our next BJJ, Wrestling & Leadership Summer Camp this August!
