Busy weekend for The Forge strongman team!

SCC provincials and Strongest Woman in the West on the same day!

Lucas brought home the gold in the Teen division breaking several provincial records at the Harvest Festival strongman competition

Ryan secured a 3rd place finish in the u120kg division

And eryn finish 8th overall in Western Canada with a standout finish in the truck pull and in the tire flip medley

We also want to give a shout-out to our members that helped put on the show, Ariel, Dane, and Carter volunteered for the day resetting events and loading weights for the near 40 competitors at Harvest Festival on Saturday. Shows like this can't happen without a solid team of volunteers.

Meet the trainers part 2

Eryn Penner is our newest addition to the team.

As one of the Pembina Valleys fastest growing strength athletes Eryn is excited to further her journey as a Personal Trainer / Coach here at The Forge. She is keen to walk alongside you at any level. Be it walking into the gym for the first time, building confidence through training, or looking to push yourself to the next level. Eryn’s focus on functional training, with sustainable progress is perfect for those who are looking to push further and build intentionally.

Ryan Froese, gym owner and seasoned strength sport competitor.

Ryan believes strength is more than just numbers on a bar — it’s being capable, confident, and prepared for life. With years spent working in physically demanding industries, combined with 10 years competing in Strongman, Ryan brings a unique understanding of real-world strength. His coaching helps clients build the power, resilience, and skills needed to become stronger in the gym and in everyday life.

Starting June 23rd every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 coaches Eryn Penner and Ryan Froese will be running a women's only strength class!

For only $10 per session develop functional strength and fitness, confidence in the gym and everyday life, and become the strong woman you were meant to be.

Work at your own level! Whether you're an experienced lifter or a first time gym goer you'll find the appropriate challenge here!

Thanks to a last minute sponsorship from Colorfully Dark studios we will be hosting a max deadlift competition to help fund .eryn on her way to the Arnold pro/am. First place will win a 3 hour tattoo session with 2nd place a 2 hour session and 3rd place a 1 hour session. Entry fee will be $20 and all proceeds will go to Eryn. Placements will be determined by percentage based on the provincial deadlift record of your class.

Meet the trainers at The Forge.
First up Kim Giesbrecht!
has been working as a Personal Trainer for almost 10 years; the last 2 1/2 years at Forge Gym. Her experience covers working with ages from 11-89; both one on one and in group classes. Her passion is to see people improve in health and quality of life. Some of her joys have been : seeing an 11 year old boy with difficulty walking , getting straighter in his gait and stronger, seeing an 89 year old woman gain amazing core strength, helping individuals reach goals of fitness and improved strength in previous areas of injury and weakness. She loves getting to know her clients and does all she can to help them achieve their individual goals.

We're offering specials on personal training in January, get 5 sessions for $225.

Our Barbell Basics classes will be small groups intended to leave everyone with the knowledge they need to further their fitness goals and at $50 for a block of 4 classes it's a steal of a deal.

This month's member's spotlight goes to Avery! Every week you'll find her here at The Forge putting in work.

We asked her about her thoughts on the gym and this is what she had to say.
"I started going to The Forge gym to find an outlet & safe space where I can go to work on myself and ease my stress from day to day life .
My goals are to always challenge myself and try new things and most importantly stay consistent as that’s always the hardest part.
I’ve been going to the gym for just over a year now and it’s the best decision I could have made for both my mental and physical health and I’ve been to accomplish a great routine both in the gym & nutrition that I enjoy!"

We're offering free basic workout plans to all members, new and old.
One of the hardest parts of going to the gym is developing a set of workouts that's effective and with so many people trying to influence the scene it's that much harder to find good information. Get a free program that's designed to get you started comfortably and get you results while still being customizable to your goals.

"Coach Ryan at The Forge Gym was a huge help to my workouts. Keeping me on track while consistently pushing to do better and very helpful whenever I was having issues with a workout." -Janet

Janet (pictured here doing her absolute favorite exercise) joined our online coaching program to try something new in the gym. We provided her with unique workouts geared towards her goals, as well as technique instruction and form corrections when needed. When Janet started with us she didn't do squats due to the pain she felt from them. After a couple months not only was she doing regular back squats she had built the confidence and strength to start doing front squats as well.

Coaching takes all the guess work out of the gym and your workouts and it can fit anyone from experienced lifters to first time gym goers. Our coaching app makes it easy to understand the exercises using built in video demonstration of the exercise.

If you feel like you've hit a plateau, just want to get started in the gym, or want to try a different style of workout coaching might be the right path for you. Don't settle for generic programs, get workouts built for you and your goals so you can achieve them faster.
