These movements help us develop explosive power, strength, and coordination.
Let us explain:
Moving weight in the sn**ch and clean and jerk requires moving weight at high speeds (that’s the cool part). In order to move weight fast, we need to be powerful. Training these lifts turns us into higher jumpers, faster sprinters, and helps us change directions quickly 🧭
On top of this, these lifts are full body movements. No muscle isolation here! We engage almost every major muscle group simultaneously (legs, glutes, core, arms). The whole body benefits from it 💪
Executing these lifts safely requires good range of motion in our joints. Positions in these lifts are very important, so stretching, mobilization, and activation are all important components of pre/post lifting routine.
Just like all other resistance training, Olympic lifting positively impacts muscle mass and bone density. This helps keep our skeletons strong as we age!
