The sn**ch & the clean (and jerk) carry more benefits than just making us look cool 😎

These movements help us develop explosive power, strength, and coordination.

Let us explain:

Moving weight in the sn**ch and clean and jerk requires moving weight at high speeds (that’s the cool part). In order to move weight fast, we need to be powerful. Training these lifts turns us into higher jumpers, faster sprinters, and helps us change directions quickly 🧭

On top of this, these lifts are full body movements. No muscle isolation here! We engage almost every major muscle group simultaneously (legs, glutes, core, arms). The whole body benefits from it 💪

Executing these lifts safely requires good range of motion in our joints. Positions in these lifts are very important, so stretching, mobilization, and activation are all important components of pre/post lifting routine.

Just like all other resistance training, Olympic lifting positively impacts muscle mass and bone density. This helps keep our skeletons strong as we age!

Maddison Pizzuti and the Windsor CrossFit team are organizing a competition to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Windsor!

The competition will consist of 4 workouts (3 scheduled and 1 floater 🛟)

The first two workouts have been announced. We’ve attached them in this slide to make it easy for you to figure out which division to register for!

We’ve got a big crew heading there to throw down!

Strength training, cardiovascular fitness, balance, mobility, and muscle mass all act as a hedge against the things that take people out as they age…. Falls, frailty, chronic disease, loss of independence…

We don’t workout because we expect life to be easy. We workout so we’re capable enough to handle it

Join us in congratulating this fun-loving, hardworking woman on her title of ALOTM 👑👏

Claudia is our All Leveller for June! ☀️

She’s been doing CrossFit on and off for about 10 years. Her long hours at a desk while working contributed to chronic neck and back pain. She knew she had to make a change and adding regular movement under the watchful eye of a coach was her first step to bettering her life!

Claudia is one DRIVEN human. She recognizes how easily we can be pushed to give up on ourselves… and her experience at the gym has only motivated her more to stay active and push herself physically and mentally. Claudia explained how much the community at the gym keeps her coming back every day. How working out alongside other members who are pushing themselves, motivates her to work harder and to keep showing up — “we lift each other up, and that energy is contagious.”

One of Claudia’s goals when she started up with us was to lose some weight. She’s lost 20lbs since last year! Her workout schedule paired with mindful, educated nutrition decisions has helped her become a healthier Claudia! 🏃‍♀️

We can always count on seeing Claudia throughout the week… and seeing her on the weekend is a bonus. She’s a prime example of “do what you love, and love what you do!” She doesn’t show up because she feels she HAS to. She shows up because she wants to.

She loves the members. She loves the partner workouts. She loves challenging herself.

Selecting Claudia as our All Leveller this month was a no-brainer.

We love ya, Clauds. Keep up the great work. You set a strong example for all of us 🙌❤️
