🏈 BEHIND THE LOGO: WHAT DOES IT SAY?
Those four embroidered characters spell **SKOL**.
The word comes from the Scandinavian *skål*, a traditional toast meaning “cheers” or “good health.” For Vikings fans, it has become a rallying cry—a way of celebrating the team and the community surrounding it.
Although SKOL has long been connected to Minnesota Vikings football, the synchronized SKOL Chant is relatively new. It was adapted from the Viking War Chant made famous by Iceland’s national soccer team during Euro 2016.
The Vikings introduced their version at the September 18, 2016 home opener at U.S. Bank Stadium. Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton led the crowd in the historic first chant before Minnesota faced the Green Bay Packers.
This Vikings 9SEVENTY brings that unmistakable battle cry to the front of a modern purple-and-gold cap.
