This is empowerment in action!! 🫶💫
Last Saturday, a group of open-hearted dancers gathered to learn and connect through ‘s workshop “Empowered Connections: Consent on the Dance Floor”. We spent an afternoon covering topics that were sometimes challenging, sometimes funny or awkward, but all so engaging and so important to furthering our understanding of consent in social dancing.
From discussing that it’s okay to say no to a dance or a move, to practicing verbally and nonverbally maintaining boundaries, to envisioning what we want our dance community to look like, we know this workshop was an invaluable first step to broader change that will strengthen Windsor’s unique, tight-knit, and growing dance community.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended - we hope you gained new insights, understandings, and skills to improve your social dance connections, and we’re uplifted by you taking the time for community and self-improvement. A special, heartfelt thank you goes to our donors for their generous support; to for being a phenomenal co-host and partner, for being a last-minute logistics angel, and for facilitating such an impactful workshop for our Latin dance community.
We’re ready for more of those joyful, grounded, and as Lexi puts it, “ooey-gooey”, dances!
