In 2020, COVID-19 impacted the world, and in the absence of league sports, individuals in the Avon region were looking for sport and social activity that complied with Health and Safety protocols. How about activities that did NOT require large groups, schedules, officials, travel, etc.? What could we be doing in our own community, with our community? Lo and behold, the recreation facilities were
already here; we just needed to take the bull by the horns and make it happen. On the grounds of the Clifton Estate Golf Course a seed was planted, and with the emergence of the new West Hants Sports Complex, that seed germinated over a cold refreshing beverage at the Schoolhouse Brewery. Rather than create a separate society for every interest, the Avon Sport and Social Community was formed to fill that gap between Recreation programs and Sport Leagues. Our intent is to complement, not compete, with these other entities - AND also to find and create those activities and opportunities that do not exist - yet! In order to meet our objective, our not for profit society will look to provide those programs and also raise money to develop facilities and procure equipment. It has started with Disc Golf and Soccer, but there is no limit to what our community can do! Recess for Adults!
