Attention Athletes!

RBC TRAINING GROUND IS COMING TO WHITEHORSE

The RBC Training Ground is coming north — and they’re looking for raw athletic talent!

The RBC Training Ground is a national talent identification program designed to discover athletes with Olympic potential.
It focuses on raw athletic ability—testing speed, power, strength, and endurance rather than sport-specific skills.

Athletes aged 14–25 can participate for free by attending the Whitehorse qualifying event or submitting results virtually.
Top performers may be identified and connected with National Sport Organizations for further development. This program has helped launch athletes into Olympic pathways across multiple sports. It’s an opportunity for driven individuals to get noticed, access high-performance resources, and take their training to the next level.

Register by April 18. In person testing to take place on April 19 at the Canada Games Centre (Flexihall)

Athletes will be tested on raw athletic performance—speed, power, strength, and endurance. Based on your results, top athletes may be identified and matched with one of these sports and connected to their National Sport Organization for further development.

PROUD MOMENT FOR TEAM YUKON!

The athletes from Eight Days Martial Arts delivered an incredible performance at the recent Grappling Industries Competition, bringing home an outstanding medal haul:
3 Gold
12 Silver
8 Bronze

The team also achieved remarkable overall placements:
• 5th Overall Team – Adults (out of 79 teams)
• 7th Overall Team – Kids & Teens (out of 55 teams)

Adult competitors earned 2 Gold, 6 Silver, and 3 Bronze, while our youth athletes brought home 1 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze - an incredible demonstration of skill, determination, and heart across every division.

Muaythai Yukon is immensely proud of every athlete who stepped onto the mats to represent the Yukon, along with coach Bobby Woodman, parents and supporting coaches who continue to build such a strong martial arts community in the North. These results reflect not only competitive success, but the discipline, growth, and resilience that our athletes carry with them every day.

Thank you to Jake from the Yukon News for covering our latest trip to Vancouver for the Grappling Industries. Thanks to Muaythai Yukon, Lotteries Yukon, Sport Yukon and Air North, for helping our athletes attend. Big thank you to our amazing gym community for helping train and prepare them for the event. Im so proud of how everyone is progressing and applying the skills to real life matches. Can't wait for the next one.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO LOTTERIES YUKON!

Muaythai Yukon would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Lotteries Yukon for their continued and unwavering support of Yukon athletes.

Thanks to their generosity, 23 youth and adult grapplers - including athletes as young as four years old - from Eight Days Martial Arts are eligible for travel subsidies to attend the Grappling Industries Jiu Jitsu Competition in the Vancouver area this weekend.

With the support of Lotteries Yukon, along with Air North, and Eight Days Martial Arts, Yukon martial arts athletes can travel, compete, learn, and grow - experiences that shape not only stronger competitors, but more confident and resilient Yukoners. Time and again, Yukon athletes have shown that when given the opportunity, they rise to the occasion with skill, heart, and sportsmanship.

We are incredibly proud of this entire team - every single athlete - and of their coach, Bobby Woodman, whose leadership and commitment continue to build a strong, supportive martial arts community here in the Yukon. The growth we see at each competition is remarkable, and it is a privilege to support these athletes on their journey.
