Just putting this out there....
In July of 2011 I was simply a member of what was then Tracks gym, showing up at 6 am to do my cardio. When I found out that is was for sale the challenge grabbed my attention. As I walked on the treadmill I wonderd if I could make it work, and when I dove in and bought it, it was for 2 reasons: 1. the challenge to see if I could make it work, combined with my other business and 2. becasue I, like so many of us, wanted "the gym" back. Andy Pilgrim used to tease me about every 7 dollar bill that walked through the door as that was the drop in at the time. I watched memberships climb until finally Nitro paid the rent without me supplementing it which was an incredible feeling of accomplishment. The membership base grew and grew and I reached goal number one...make this place self sufficient financially. Make the numbers work! Goal number 2 is the one that I get the most enjoyment from...every person who has ever said "I love this place" or " i am so thankful for this place" or " I need this gym". Anyone who knows anything about owning a gym is fully aware they are not money makers!!! And those of you who know me know I am not your typical gym owner, I don't use the gym as much as any of you do!!! I am a single mother of three small children 5,6 and 7 years old and I own another business. Nitro has been my saving grace many times. Just the vibe I get has helped me through some pretty sh*tty times. I have some incredibly awesome people who have always been there to help out and I am very proud to tell people about the comradery members show. I guess what has been pi***ng me off a little lately is when I think about what Nitro means to me I want people to understand and think twice when they complain that its a bit dusty or the mirrors need wiped down or the people who feel the need to talk down about Nitro or myself. I bought this gym FOR YOU. Some of the people with the biggest mouth and first to talk trash didn't put up the cash to keep this place open did they??? I get little to no financial benefit, what it makes goes right back into it. People that can't be bothered to pay their damn memberships, sneak in on someone elses card, leave your muddy boots on, can't flush the damn toilet, put your cup in the garbage....all these little things show disrespect. Many of you already appreciate Nitro but for those of you who don't maybe every now and then you should just stop and think....
